Welcome to Chisuma Village
“Chisuma Village of Zimbabwe encompasses an area of approximately 1300 square miles. Only the village center has access to electricity and water is not easily accessible to most people in the village. A few wells and seep holes service the entire area, requiring women and children to spend about ten to fifteen hours per week bringing water to their household.
Poverty is perpetuated in this community by the lack of opportunity for employment within the village. Men will often go to the cities to find work, leaving the youth alone to fend for themselves. Out of their desperate need to provide for their families, some young mothers resort to prostitution to make ends meet. This is one of the factors that leads to largest health problem in the area- HIV/AIDS. Being diagnosed with HIV can cause a family to be ostracized, so it is often hidden. This contributes to the rampant spread of the disease.
A small group of Christians worship in the village. There is a need for revival and a solid foundation on the Word of God. Most do not have Bibles. Traditional ancestral worship and other cult practices challenge their new learning.” -Daniel Lufiyele
“Behold, I am making all things new…” (Revelation 21:5)
Daniel and Amber Lufiyele have responded to the call to the community of Chisuma Village. They are leading bible studies with youth, providing Christian counseling, teaching business skills, and giving AIDS health workshops. Youth are hearing the Gospel and finding ways that they can make a change in their communities NOW!
Would you join us this month in praying for the youth of Zimbabwe, more specifically, Chisuma Village? Pray the youth come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord, that they would learn skills to provide for their basic necessities, and that they would be leaders in their community to end the cycle of spiritual and physical poverty.
