Praise God for the excellent translation progress which the Aruamu team has been making this year.
Pray for Nathan’s aortic heart valve replacement surgery, scheduled for October 9 at Baylor in Dallas. Pray in the meantime for his heart valve to hold steady, and for his wisdom to pace himself. He is at the Canadian Bible Society in Toronto right now.
Pray for John and Martin, as well as Bobby Joe and Sue Ellen Wrenn as they return to PNG, September 29. Pray for the recording of Aruamu Psalms and Proverbs in Madang during October.
Thank you for interceding for us!
If you are in the Dallas area, you are invited to a Going Away Party for Aruamu translators John and Martin, Saturday September 26, 5 to 8 p.m., Pioneer Bible Translators Smith Building, 7255 W Camp Wisdom Road, Dallas, TX.
“We are the fruit of your many prayers”
Dear friends and family,
Earlier this month my Aruamu colleagues, Martin Ases and John Igos, and I were able to visit long-time friends in the Memphis area. We were given the opportunity to share in several different contexts about our Bible translation ministry amongst the Aruamu people of Papua New Guinea. It was very meaningful to Martin and John to meet John Relyea’s mother. It was very touching to them to meet some of the key people who first shared with John about the Lord, helped to disciple him, who ordained him into the ministry, who sent our family to Papua New Guinea as missionaries, and who have been faithful intercessors and financial partners in this ministry from the first day until now.
It was very touching when Martin shared these thoughts:
“We have come to say thank you to you for sending John and Marsha to Papua New Guinea, so that we could have God’s Word. We have heard how you have prayed for us for many years. God is answering your prayers, because many people are coming to know God. We are standing before you today to say that we are the fruit of your many prayers.”
We are very thankful for your prayers for us this last month. We completed the exegetical check of the book of Isaiah. It took 2.5 months to carefully work through that LONG text, for accuracy, clarity, naturalness — all 1292 verses. The next step on that book is the comprehension check, over in Aruamu villages in Papua New Guinea. We are in the process of preparing for that step. What a magnificent book! We are currently proofreading Lectionary readings for this next year. We are hearing that Steven Dazim had a wonderful trip to Israel. (He is back in Tiap village now.)
John and Martin are preparing to return to Papua New Guinea at the end of September. They will be traveling with Bobby Joe and Sue Ellen Wrenn (our co-workers from Cornerstone Christian Church in Dallas). The Wrenns will be staying on in PNG for some weeks to help with recording the Aruamu books of Psalms and Proverbs.
Don’t stop praying. Your prayers are bearing fruit in the lives of people.
Blessings to you,
Marsha Relyea Miles (for Nathan – and John and Martin, as well!)
