Your 60 Second Prayer Update: Forge Training

Ministry Highlight

Reggie, welcome to the new format PrayerFlash! Our friends in the CMF missions center in Indianapolis are helping us create a shorter, sharper, and more visually appealing prayer update. We are trying to take into account responses to our recent survey, to which you can still add your input, by clicking on any of the survey links included.

Forge England & Wales – Our next Midlands training begins March 23-25, 2018.

What is it? Forge helps followers of Jesus connect with their community, start new ministry outreach activities, and engage people in spiritual conversations. It is an initiative which comes under ForMission College (connected to our network of churches in the UK). We lead the Midlands (Birmingham) training hub. It has been designed to equip Christians with practical skills and tools to think and act missionally in their community.

How does it work? There are three intensive weekends over nine months which focus on being a church engaged wth the community, living a missional lifestyle, and developing as a leader. All the training comes from individuals and couples who are active in starting new churches, making disciples, or leading ministry and outreach in their community in inspirational ways. Everyone attending the training receives 3 group coaching and 5 individual coaching sessions to help implement what they are learning in their church and community.

Why are you doing this? From a strategic point of view the Fellowship of Churches of Christ and other local congregations need to develop leaders who can pioneer new initiatives and new churches and make disciples. Forge provides a supportive learning community our churches need to step out in faith to find people of peace in their neighbourhoods and make disciples.

Our cooks for Neighbour Nights (first Wednesday of each month – next is 4th April) are a family that comes from Poland. They are warm and friendly! Pray for their hearts to continue to soften to the good news of the Kingdom of God.
We recently wrote letters of reference for two of our friends pictured here who are asylum seekers from Albania and the Philippines. Pray for the government to look favourably on their appeal. Pray for spiritual conversations.

How should I pray for Forge? Here are the bullet points!

  • For those we’ve been recruiting to take a step of faith and join us – a group of 10 so far –  twelve is our goal.
  • For training content to be clearly understood, received, and implemented.
  • For the missional imagination of participants to be inspired and ignited (Eph 3.14-21).
  • For God to provide finances ($700/ person) to empower these emerging leaders. Ask God if you should make a financial gift to help an emerging leader; click here and designate it for “Forge”.
  • For the coaching and application to yield new evangelistic efforts, new disciples, and even new churches.
