Pray for Campus Ministries
As you receive this on Wednesday morning, I am privileged to be involved in the Campus Ministers Retreat at the McCormick Creek State Park in Spencer, Indiana. This annual retreat sponsored by the Association of Campus Ministries along with several colleges, ministries, and mission works is quite special. This year, it is exciting to have some new campus ministers present (having served one year or less) and even a couple who are “taking a look” at campus ministry.
Pray for those involved in this type of ministry across the United States and around the world. Campus ministry IS cross cultural ministry. Campus ministries are serving in a place where people from MANY nations and MANY cultures are present. I do not believe I am stretching at all to compare the campus to be similar to Athens in the first century, where Paul addressed people amidst a panoply of statues and altars to gods and goddesses of all varieties. There is no place where Jesus is needed more, and no place where Christian values are challenged more!
The people coming from the many campus ministries are often committed to ministry and deeply interested in world missions. People come to know Christ, or are introduced to Christ and return to their native land. This is exactly why Paul decided to preach the gospel in great trade cities in the first century. Seeds of hope are planted in lives to be carried who knows where.
Join me today in this prayer. Take time to find the campus ministry nearest your home and pray for the staff and students involved! You think about that!
Praying for more to be His,
Reggie Hundley Executive Director Mission Services Association, Inc.
