An Encouraging Trend
that helps calm my concern for the disturbing one!

On February 25, I wrote a brief statement of concern about, “A Disturbing Trend.” (click the link it you have not read it) There IS much about which we may be disturbed. Max Lucado has been a prolific writer over the years, but until 2016 he has avoided politics. Many have joined him as they have been disturbed over the tone of at least one presidential candidate. We should be disturbed about the racial tension within the United States, the continuing slow growth of the economy and more!

However, we should not allow the areas of concern to define how we view the world. I remember a song our congregation sang often in my early years, “This is my Father’s world. O let me ne’er forget That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the Ruler Yet.” Daily, perhaps hourly, we should focus on the POSITIVE that reminds us of God’s sovereign nature!

Yesterday, I wrote a thank you letter to our financial supporters of how God has supernaturally used the missions network to His glory. Many will remember reading (or hearing me tell about) the amazing fact that every 5 seconds someone, somewhere in the world, connects with a God story shared on the network. During February, the growth rate of the network over last year was 48.6%! More than 25,000 times daily, people from more than 180 nations, were learning about God and His world mission or were being encouraged by the stories of His movement around the world. Some were being inspired to join the task of sharing His love with the unreached or unengaged.

What an amazing story of God’s power the missions networkhas become. We do not have missionaries in all those nations, but God has harnessed the power of the Internet as well as the video and text on our network to connect with people! That is HIS story, not ours! This is the result of His action, not some cleverly designed strategy of man! I am certain God will raise up people to nurture the seed sown that movements of disciples will grow in every nation, tribe, and people group. THAT is the promise of an encouraging trend to come!

Praying for more to be His,
