This is the network for God Stories!
For 70 years, the work of Mission Services has been to provide a service where the God stories of the mission field may be told. Early on, this was done through a couple of periodicals, ultimately becoming HORIZONS magazine in January of 1952. Tom Rash, then of Kulpahar, India, was the first to ask MSA to print and mail a mission newsletter which continues to be a service we provide.
The original mission statement declared our purpose was the “dissemination of religious news.” Today, “Our Mission is to be used by God to share the news of His kingdom with English speaking people everywhere.” So, the heart of our purpose is unchanged, just our communication tools. We created the missions network to be the network where people could find the God stories that are written daily by God’s power through faithful missionaries and ministries. Our prayer has been, “God you know the people around the world who need Your stories. You know who needs to see lives changed by Your grace. You know who is hungering to join Your mission, but they do not know who needs their talents. God, bring those people to the network so they may learn Your stories.“
God has honored that prayer; allow me to explain how we know. In February, we began to see another growth spurt in the number of people on the network. In March, the statistics exceeded our imagination. The number of people accessing the network increased 445% over March 2015. The number of page views (an important measurement of Internet activity) increased more than 215%. Finally the bandwidth usage (how much information was transferred) exploded by more than 1200%! At our recent Board of Directors meeting, the following was asked, “To what do you attribute the amazing increase?” Our only answer is God is bringing the people who need to know His stories!
