Volunteers Make the World Go Round
Say the word, “volunteer,” at Team Expansion and at least half the crowd will drop down on all fours and begin shouting praises to the Father of lights. Why? Because we need them so much — and they make the world go round.
Take Kinney for instance (pictured). For several summers now, he comes every week, like clockwork, hops on our zero-turn, five-foot-deck mower, and for 9 hours, he makes all the tall grass go away, converting Emerald Hills into a golf green. By the time he finishes, there are usually 20 people frozen in the parking lot, looking out across the drop-dead gorgeous scenery. We’re not sure HOW we would make everything happen if, suddenly, God took Kinney Hill up to heaven. We only know that he is a HUGE part of how we can get through each week in the summer. So we REGULARLY give thanks to God for Kinney. And just two weeks ago, Patti and Allison (mother and daughter) came every day for a week and completely changed the face of our campus, making it cleaner, tidier, and better trimmed. Volunteers: They make the world go round.
But in addition, Emerald Hills is a service to the Volunteers. Why? Because it gives them a place to serve. A cause. Ephesians 2:10 says that God created us to be like his “workmanship” (the original Greek word sounds a LOT like our word for “poetry.”) We are like God’s music — and He wants to “sing us” to the entire globe full of unreached peoples.
Looking for a place to bless others? Know someone like Kinney? Hoping to help others prepare a place like Emerald Hills, so that your name, or the names of your family members, can live on? You’ve found the place. We’d love to hear from you today.
