Christians & Ramadan
This month, we explored the topic of Christians and Ramadan. Ramadan is a month-long, Muslim holy holiday. This year Ramadan is from June 5- July 5.
Ramadan is celebrated with fasting, prayers, worship, and fellowship with family and friends. It’s a time of intense spirituality for many Muslims. Learn more about Ramadan.
The fact that it’s such a spiritually focused time means it’s also a critical time for Christians to be praying that Jesus reveals himself to Muslims during their fasting and prayers. Join others praying for Muslims to know Christ at 30 Days of Prayer.

Featured Opportunity
Adventure Tourism
A team in the Pacific Rim has requested teammates for their adventure tourism business platform in a Muslim country in Southeast Asia.
Through adventure tourism, the team hopes to catalyze a disciple making movement by seeking out people of peace, helping them discover the Good News through the DBS method, and equipping them for spiritual growth and leadership to start other groups.

Prayer Requests
Praise God that Discovery Bible Study has proven to be fruitful among many unreached people groups where Team Expansion workers are currently serving.
This method teaches individuals how to study the Bible, disciple, and teach others how to study the Bible, and thus, forms other simple church communities.
Pray that God would orchestrate 24 Disciple Making Movements by 2024 among unreached peoples.

Emerald Hills Update
by Doug Lucas, President of Team Expansion
Emerald Hills: Both a Launch Pad and a Refueling Stop I always love this time of year (mid-summer). Within just a few short weeks, one can easily see how Emerald Hills serves as a launching pad, a refueling stop, and a pivot point for missional prayer strategy. You see, as the summer begins, dozens of workers come from all over the country (sometimes all over the world!) to glean valuable insights, skills and experience prior to serving overseas. Sure, it’s possible to read about mission work in a book — and we certainly hope (and assume) that our missionary candidates will do that. But imagine trying to teach an Olympic swimmer to do the breast stroke via the telephone. Honestly, there are some skills — and some insights — best learned experientially. And one can pick up on that so clearly as workers stream through the doors here each June to head out to the nations. But June is also a popular time to swing by Emerald Hills to refuel. Whenever our workers come to the USA for a visit (usually once every 2 or 3 years), they stop by Emerald Hills (by design) for a strategy, ministry, and personal check-up. Our International Services staff asks tough questions, they look deep within, and, during their visit, they recalibrate their internal compasses so, all the more, they can focus on expanding Christ’s Kingdom in the places where it most needs to grow. Rocket scientists tell us that, in a rocket’s journey to Mars, the first step (the first 200 miles after launching from earth’s surface) will use up half of the total fuel needed to make the trip. The other half of the gas tank will enable the rocket to cover the remaining 230 million miles.* This is the tyranny of gravity — and the reality of rocket science. One of our goals at Emerald Hills is to help new missionaries launch their rockets into the farthest reaches of uncharted space. For that reason, we’re so grateful for Emerald Hills as our launchpad, refueling outpost, and strategy pivot point. (Would you or your church like to help us prep for rocket launches at Emerald Hills? We need tons of volunteers; maybe you can help. For more information, write Doug, our President, at DLucas@TeamExpansion.org . ) * According to Don Petit in “The Tyranny of the Rocket Equation,” at Nasa.gov .
