Dear Friends and Supporters
MEETINGS WENT WELL IN GHANA
The meeting with the committee to amend the constitution and by-laws of the Restoration Christian Church went well.Brothers Enoch Nyador and Austin Ganyo and I met with the committee on January 11. We came to some agreements on word changes, etc. that seemed to satisfy all of us. These changes still have to be approved by the National Council of the organization next month and by the General Assembly this summer.
The special board meeting of the Christian Leadership Training Institute held on January 13 and 14 went well. The remaining employees of the Institute were interviewed to determine their willingness to continue their services after the resignation of our Director in September. All were happy to continue with their work.
Godfred Mintah will not only continue as the supervisor for TEE in Ghana but will also take over the duties of the Director in Ghana. He will not be visiting the other countries to fulfill the international duties of the Director. That will be reviewed at the annual board meeting in September this year.
Eric Afful will step up to give more assistance to Godfred Mintah in the administrative duties. Beatrice Ofori will continue her good work with the Women Enrichment Seminars in Ghana.
NEW ROOF BADLY NEEDED
One thing that the board discovered is that the house in which Godfred Mintah lives needs a new roof immediately. It was the last house we built. We used the same roofing sheets as we did on the other buildings, but did not know that the manufacturer had cheapened their product and it is no longer durable. The repairs to the roofing sheets have not held. This problem has been getting worse and worse each year, but the board was not made aware of the seriousness of it until this meeting. The walls and the ceilings have already suffered some damage. In order to avoid further damage, Ivory Cost Christian Mission has taken out a loan of $5,000 to replace the roof before the rainy season starts in March.
ETHIOPIA
Eshete Belete reports that the TEE classes are making an impact on the Christians. In the past some of them included Mary, mother of Jesus, in their worship. Now they are removing her pictures from their sanctuaries and her name from their worship. Brother Eshete works with independent churches that do not have a denominational connection in the country.
There are about 360 active TEE students in the southeastern area near Somalia. There are about 100 students in the northern area. About 250 new students are lined up to start classes in other parts of the country.
