PRAYER POINTES DECEMBER 2016

RESTORE Christian Church

Brian and his wife Shelley have been attending and serving at RESTORE for several months.  They also work with Sojourn Collegiate Ministries.  Brian recently had double knee replacement surgery and has been in a lot of pain.  There have also been some other unexpected health issues from the surgery.  Please pray for Brian’s recovery and for their ministry at UMass Boston.

Please pray for Valerie and her daughter Violet.  Violet is a couple of weeks old, and was delivered at 24 weeks.  She weighed 1lb, 7oz at birth.  We are praising God that Violet is now able to breath on her own, but she still has a long, difficult road ahead of her.  Please pray for Valerie, Violet, and the rest of their family.

Joe recently moved to Quincy and has been part of RESTORE for a couple of months.  We praise God because Joe has decided to be baptized in the near future!  Joe very recently experienced the loss of his mother.  Pray for comfort, peace, and God’s provision during this season as Joe makes a decision about life eternal.

NorthPointe Christian Church

Cynthia started attending NorthPointe after we offered to install a wheelchair ramp for her aging parents and disabled brother through our Dollar Club Ministry. She stopped attending her family’s Catholic church many years ago, but always desired a relationship with the Lord. Over the past four weeks, Cynthia has attended NorthPointe and is starting to rediscover a relationship with Him. Please pray for the Lord to continue pursuing Cynthia and her family and that they will be open to His love for them.

Please pray for Scott and his family. Scott has been out of work for a while due to an injury he sustained on the job. While waiting for workman’s comp and now disability, Scott and his family have fallen on hard times financially and are really struggling. Last week, Scott learned his estranged son had overdosed on heroin and attempts by Scott to reach out to him have all but been rejected. Please pray for Scott and his son and for God’s grace to be made known even greater in their lives through these circumstances.

Last September, NorthPointe took a Sunday off and unleashed our congregation to serve in our community. Margie volunteered that morning at a shelter in Providence that provides breakfast for homeless men, women, and families. Since then, she’s gotten involved with that organization on a deeper level and volunteers regularly on Sunday mornings. She sees this as her opportunity to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus and make a real impact in people’s lives. Margie has even begun taking many of the people who come for breakfast to church afterwards. Please pray for Margie’s ministry and that the Lord will use her to share His love.

BridgePointe Christian Church

Please pray for Will and Michelle. They are running toward Jesus right now, despite some difficult circumstances. After being hot and cold with BridgePointe for over a year, God is working to radically change their hearts. They were privately married on Sunday because they wanted to do things God’s way. And they will be baptized on January 1 as a sign of their desire to get a new start with Jesus. Please pray that they continue to find joy and life in their new relationship with Jesus.

Please pray for Michael. He is a skeptic and a cynic. And he just came to his first home group and Sunday service with his wife, Leslie. She has been praying for him for years. God is answering her Prayer for One. Please pray that Michael sees the truth of Jesus and the beauty of the church in a new way this Christmas season.

BridgePointe will have four Christmas services on Friday, December 23 and one on Sunday, December 25. Please pray that the people of BridgePointe will find their “ONE” to bring with them to celebrate the hope of Jesus. Please pray for these services to powerfully reveal the truth and hope of Jesus to many who are far from God.

OceanPointe Christian Church

Anna began attending OceanPointe when she and her two sons moved back to Newport after a tough separation from her husband. The holidays can bring stress and worries, but can also allow time for making new memories as a family of three. Please pray that these memories will be filled with joy and peace in this season and that they find hope in the promise of our Savior.

This Christmas brings much joy and excitement to one of our families as they prepare to welcome their father home from Afghanistan!  Please pray for safety as John arrives home, as well as for a smooth transition as the family dynamics continue to change. We also pray for all those who are without a family member or friend, serving overseas this Christmas.

Jennifer had been coming to OceanPointe for only a couple of weeks when we mentioned in service that we were going to put up an 18ft Christmas Tree to decorate The Pointe. After service she told us her husband moved trees for a living and had a truck we could use! Jennifer’s husband hadn’t come to church with her and her daughter and even after helping with the tree, he didn’t come the following Sunday. Fast-forward a few weeks…they came as a family! It’s exciting to see the connections being made and the joy it brings Jennifer and her daughter when they are there together. Pray with us that they would continue to come as a family and to grow in knowing Christ and the hope He offers.

SouthPointe Christian Church

Susan was invited to attend a worship service at SouthPointe Christian Church (SPCC) by her friend Tracy.  This past fall Susan was baptized in the ocean at our “Burgers and Baptisms” celebration.

She has started to serve with our SP Kids and a few weeks ago shared with the director of the children’s ministry how much the experience of serving the children has grown her in her faith.

Susan’s husband has come to one service at SPCC and she is excited that he has agreed to join her for one of our Christmas Eve services.  Please pray for Susan and her husband and that she can help him become a disciple of Jesus, too.

We have been praying for a 24/7 building. This would allow us more time and energy to serve the community. We believe this would send a “we are here to stay” message to the community we’ve served for the last 5 years. Plus, it could save money each month.  God has provided the finances for the down payment and closing costs!!!! Thank God for His answered prayer. We believe another $100,000 is needed to cover renovations. Please pray for God’s providence in this area, but most importantly pray that God would use this to reach more people.

We have also been praying for God to call someone to SPCC to serve in the area of worship arts. God has answered this prayer, as Anthony Harrison will be joining the SouthPointe staff later this spring! Anthony is currently serving on the west coast, but has 40 first cousins living in Rhode Island. (Yes, FORTY!) Pray for Anthony and Jen, along with their children Ethan, Ella, and Elias in their move. Pray  for their housing, their neighbors, our worship band, and his extended family!
