Greetings from Coffee Country!
Jeremiah 6:16
Today marks the 498th anniversary of Martin Luther’s 95 Theses being nailed to the door of the Wittenberg Cathedral. In the five centuries since that point in time the Church and the world have gone through a lot of changes, to put it lightly. After the Reformation came the Restoration and many other movements as well. To this day many people are trying to “improve” on God’s plan for His Church. We remain committed to doing our best to return to His original plan and to teach others to remain faithful as well.
Busy schedule
October has come and gone and it is hard for us to realize that it was only one month long! We hit the ground running upon our return last month and this month the pace has not let up. Besides the usual work of teaching and counseling, Sheri has been busy with work at the English language institute and we’ve also been house hunting .
Motorcycle
As we mentioned this summer as we were reporting, I use a motorcycle a lot while traveling to different churches and activities in other cities. This is a quick and economical way for one person to travel, but the bike I’ve been using the past several years is a bit small. We’d been saving for a while and we received some designated gifts over the summer. This allowed us to order a Royal Enfield Rumbler 500 soon after we arrived. The dollar had risen in price and the bike was the same price in pesos that it was at the beginning of the year. This allowed us to save almost $1,500 US dollars on this purchase and provided what should be a valuable tool for our ministry here. THANK YOU! to all who prayed with us about this need and who contributed to make this a reality.
Couples Group
While we were gone the couples’ ministry continued under the leadership of Mario and Luz Mery. When we returned we were quite pleased to see how this ministry continued to impact lives. For the first of the monthly meetings we were joined by some folks who we’d not seen in quite a while. Luz Mery had an interesting ice breaker activity (see attached photo) and we were discussed various issues that impact us all as husband and wife teams. Please continue to pray for this vital ministry. Truly couples are the building block of society. As we help people to restore and/or strengthen their marriages, their families are strengthened and their children receive the type of discipline and love that they really need. This, in turn, produces a stronger society based on Godly values.
Housing update
As I type this letter we are awaiting the delivery of the keys for a house we will be moving to. We look forward to the quieter neighborhood (the current house is right on a VERY busy through street) but are dreading the process of packing and moving. The rental agency we are now dealing with is headed by a christian woman. We pray that this new residence will be a place where many will received blessings and that it will be a base from which we can impact lives for Christ in this city.
THANK YOU!
As we come to the month in which folks in the U.S. think of Thanks Giving, we also wish to give thanks to God for His love, mercy and kindness in providing us with such a wonderful support team. Thank you to each of you who take time to pray for us and our ministry. Thank you to all who generously give of your means to enable us to continue to live and minister here in Coffee Country. You all are a vital part of our ministry here.
In Christ,
