Young Hero – Raising Up Our Youth This month we have started full-force targeting many young adults between the ages of 16 and 25 years old. Our goal is to capture their attention, gain their trust, and give them a secure environment to hang out where they can have fun while we guide them through their spiritual growth. Many of the youth at this age are unsure of their future (as they are anywhere in the world). Some loose themselves on the streets; in gangs, running away from “stuff” at home, or are simply looking for any type of work that will help put food on the table.

In October, the pre-teen groups in Santa Martha and Che Guevara barrio are going on a Spiritual retreat with a short-term mission group coming down from Chandler Christian Church in Arizona. This is not a free trip. We find that working for something is better than getting it for free. These kids do not come from wealthy areas, so to raise money they are doing various fundraising activities. They have held raffles and bingo nights. This week several of their mothers helped them prepare food to sell. It has been so encouraging seeing these youths get involved and work hard for a goal.
