| 30 Seconds: Furlough Ministry |
|
Ministry Highlight
Reggie, as you read this today, we are flying to the States to commence 11 weeks of furlough ministry. We’ll be leaving Companions for Hope in the care and leadership of Sam and Rosalee. Other areas of ministry responsibilities, such as with Equip Britain (mentoring), Forge (coaching), and other discipling relationships will go on pause or take place at a distance. Read further to see our travel and speaking itinerary.
What is Furlough Ministry?
Traditionally, ‘furlough’ is a time of rest, recovery and reporting to supporters. It is certainly not a sabbatical or vacation – and our experience over the years is that we only rest and recover when we return home to our own bed and pillows in Birmingham. So, the emphasis will be on sharing stories, in person, of what the partnership we have with supporting churches and families enables us to do in Kingdom work. Furlough ministry also entails establishing new partnerships where we envision churches in the global impact they have, while also receiving encouragement, prayer, and finance that will sustain us in the work over the next few years. |

Where will you be going?
We have 24 supporting churches and numerous individuals and families to see in eleven weeks. We will be in at least 11 states though the bulk of our time will be in Virginia. Chances are we will be near you; and you can be sure we will want to see you if we are near you! It might be with one of the church families we see or some other event. We would be grateful if you take a look at our itinerary and then send us an email to schedule a time to meet if we haven’t already contacted you.
What do you need during your travels?
Prayers for connection and intimacy with God during an intense season. Prayers for protection and travel mercies. Praise God we have a car provided and most of our lodging, but maybe a bed and pillow to lay our heads in some places (don’t hesitate to email and ask). Convenient places to meet that minimise the travel we have to do. Your presence at the places, events, or worship services where we are scheduled to speak, preach or present a ministry update. Seeing you is so important to us! |

What financial support do you need to raise?
Every global worker needs to talk about resourcing when seeing supporters who pray, encourage, and give monetarily. Over time, a missionary’s support base erodes because of precious people who leave this life, changes of circumstances, or churches that change strategies or have issues affecting their budgets. We are no exception. We will be asking people to ‘Give Boldly’ with new or additional monthly support to raise the approximately $1500/month we will need to be sustained over the next few years. Please pray with us for this provision, and your part in our support team.
