Prayer and Listening Day

11 June 2014

We mentioned last week that this is proving to be a season to intentionally review, evaluate, and listen to God and colleagues about our primary areas of focus and effort.

Today we are spending the day at a local retreat centre occupying their chapel for a ‘prayer and listening day.’ We have compiled some questions and resources to help us ask God and pause before Him to receive His leading for direction and deployment. We are approaching the Father in the same way as Jesus spoke to the blind man in Mark 10: “Lord, we want to see!”

Without going into detail or being dramatic, can we ask you to pray specifically for us to hear from God about our roles, focus, and leadership in these major areas: Dickens Heath Village Church, pioneer mission training, thethirdplace network, disciple-making relationships, church planting networks and catalyzing, the Fellowship of Churches of Christ (National Leadership Team / Church Planting Task Group), Springdale College (FCC and missional training), and ethnic/international churches.

Mark 10.46-52 (NIV)

46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.

51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him.

The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”

52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

Here we are God, kneeling before you. Examine our hearts God, show us your will.

Here we are Lord, unsure of our direction and focus before you. Reveal our need Lord. Show us your will. Christ have mercy.
