REPORT ON OUR TRAINING TRIP TO MANILA, PHILIPPINES.
|
|
This is the core leadership team at the YWAM base in Manila that we trained on our visit there. What a great group of people. They make huge sacrifices to serve the Lord as they work in evangelism, helping with all kinds of human needs in and around Manila. Lord willing we will be going back next May to do two training’s with more YWAM people (There are 34 YWAM bases in the Phillippines) , pastors and lots of college age Christians. |

On our last day there we went with some of the young adults to one of the places they do a ministry and feeding program for children in some of the poorest living condition places I’ve ever seen in my life. They sing, share a Bible story, and provide the kids with what is probably their best meal of the week. They do this every week in a number of places. |

This is part of the group of college youth I spoke to. They are part of a large college group that the YWAM team is leading and ministering to. When we go back in May we will train an even larger group. They will be on vacation during that time which will give us more time to work at training them. |

"God, why did you bring me to hell?"
Those are the thoughts that a young lady I was speaking with told me she had when at the age of 15 she had to move into what is called Smokey Mountains. She said she cried herself to sleep for weeks. It is an area of well over 100,000 people living in the worst living conditions I’ve seen anywhere. There is water in the little dirt roads between the ‘houses’. Most of the living places have dirt (often very wet) floors. There is the smell of dog, cat, chicken and other excrement. They are literally living in and on a giant dump, where they sort out recyclable materials to sell in order to survive. And many on the YWAM team came out of this area and keep ministering to the people there. Oh, the young lady who is a young adult now, goes back every week to minister to the people in Smokey Mountains. She is one of the many special people we met on this trip. |

This is Paul and Chona along with Jim Larsen (on the right) who went with me on this trip to help with the training. Paul and Chona are an amazing couple. They came out of the Smokey Mountains. They lead a large YWAM team and help sponsor over 400 kids in school as well as many other kinds of help programs. Jim was such a great help to have along. He has used IAAR for some time and is a great people person as well as a great teacher/trainer. It was a huge blessing having him go with me. He hopes to go back with me in May. |

I had the opportunity to speak to a group of Christian college age students who are part of the ministry of the Team in Manila. We will be training a lot more of them when we return.
I’m currently working on setting up a training schedule over the coming twelve months that has me going to Mexico, Peru, Ethiopia, Philippines, India and possibly Malawi, Africa. I think my new ‘motto’ is Going Till I’m Grounded; that is until health, support or other situations keep me from going. Keep us in your prayers.
