Pathway’s ‘Big Give’ is amazing success!

Big things happened during Pathway Church’s annual Big Summer Give last year, as the Wichita, Kans., church challenged the children and teens in its Children’s and Student ministries to raise funds for Missions of Hope International (MOHI) in Nairobi, Kenya.

The kids and students responded by raising nearly $34,000 to help complete the construction of the Mabatini Community Center! Pathway added an additional $16,000 to the total, and a short-term team from the church delivered a check for $50,000 to MOHI in person this past fall.

Creative givers

“Our elementary students tend to get the most creative,” said Middle School pastor Ben Ford. “One girl sold her Malibu Barbie House and donated the profits. Another tore her house apart looking for spare change, and many more opened lemonade stands and did extra chores to earn money. A couple of the lemonade stands earned more than $70 each!

“The Big Summer Give runs from April to August,” added Ben. “Each year we partner with a different Pathway missions partner and promote it at our Summer Camps for kids age 3 through high school. Plus, the Children’s Ministry takes a weekly offering for the project.”

The project not only helps MOHI; it’s a blessing for the kids and the church, as well.

“Our students were challenged to be generous,” said Ben. “Their eyes were opened to how school is different and yet the same in Africa. And the church was blessed to see the power and leverage of a group of students getting behind a big project!”

Thanks, Pathway, for your generous donation to MOHI, CMF’s partner ministry in Nairobi, Kenya!

You, too, can contribute to the construction of classrooms at MOHI like Pathway Church, because the children of the Mathare slums need your help to get a good education.
