Talk about movers and shakers. Lori is back in the office, inspired, and looking to take 2016 by the horns. As with every year, Lori took time to think, pray, and listen for ways to make Morning Glory even better for the new year. But with her new energy and vibrance, Lori is stronger and even more dedicated than before. Lori took the first day to talk about the changes that Morning Glory would be enacting this year to make the program more excellent for both men and God.
As one of her first decisions this year, Lori is asking for more help from trusted leaders. Professor Oto Corzo has been in education, including directing his own private school for many years. He has been a part of Morning Glory staff for 4 years and in 2016, Oto is taking on the role of “Mentor to the Teachers.” Oto will be available to teachers and students to help with any problem, logistical or interpersonal, that may arise. Any issue in the classroom now goes through Oto before it goes to Lori, freeing Lori up to follow-up with teachers. With his experience, wisdom, and gentle heart, Professor Otto will be an indispensable addition to the students and teachers. Professor Willy, the Director of Secondary School, will also be present on campus more to help Heyson, Lori, and Tabi with the Ministry of Education requirements and to assist in any issues that might arise in school.
The first 15 minutes of each day will be dedicated to cleaning classrooms and uniform inspections. The students will do their homework exclusively in notebooks and this assignments will be graded on completion. The teacher will review the homework in class. This method will be useful to help parents know exactly what their students are learning and enable the parents to better help their children in their classes. There are two more changes that will without a doubt be favorites of the students. This year, the teachers and staff are posting motivational phrases and Scriptures all over the place. When short-term groups come, they will paint the words on the wall so our kids are surrounding by positivity. But the icing on the cake for the students is this: Once a class period ends, the next teacher has five minutes to start the next class. If he or she is later than that, there is no class, the students have a free period, and the teacher will be docked in pay. You can imagine how many students will be paying very close attention to the clock now. Just like every year, Morning Glory tweaks the program to see how to make the school a better, more complete play for the students to learn and encounter the skills and abilities they need to succeed. We ask you to pray with us for the discernment to handle any and every situation that arises at Morning Glory in a way effects life change and portray’s God’s grace in the community. This year is a fresh start for Lori; the freshest start in a long time. We want to make the best of it.
Other staff members will be modifying their responsibilities as well. Our computer teacher, Mike, will be expanding his class load from Pre-K to all of Primary School. Michell will be adding Theater class to her normal Dance schedule as well. Some of our teachers, such as Marvin, are giving up a home room class to focus on teaching Math to several different classes. Our newest missionaries, Michael and Rose Mary will be moving into the classroom as well. Michael will teach English to Pre-K and 1st grade. Rose Mary will be helping out in Bible Class, which will be taught as it’s on class in all grades to reinforce the values taught as part of the normal curriculum. There are several other changes across the board. In Secondary School Lori is eliminating the idea of having two separate sections. Of course we have to divide the classes for purposes of classroom management, but in the past, each section of the grade was allowed to plan it’s own activities. Now, each grade will function as a whole unit. They will only be separated by physical classroom. This will serve to eliminate rivalries and disorganization.
