Jessica Lester came to Morning Glory from Boise Bible College and served both our students and Casas por Cristo groups in the summer.  It was a pleasure to have her and watch how God worked in her life. Jessica writes about her experience as she found her own Morning Glory Story and played a part in hundreds of others:
I woke up to a thud and I looked out the window to see a scene not similar to anything I had ever seen before. I had been used to skyscrapers, evergreen trees, and snow covered mountains. This was something different altogether. A few mountains; but smaller. Some buildings; but shorter.  Some trees; but more sparse. After I got off the plane, I wandered down halls with signs in Spanish. As I attempted to leave the airport I struggled to communicate with almost everyone I encountered. It was my first experience where my language was the second language. It was a struggle, but one I was excited to encounter. I was picked up at the airport and driven back to where I would be staying in San Raymundo. Within days I was thrust into my new position assisting the English teacher to teach. I thought I would be nervous. I thought I would be horrible at communicating. I thought the kids wouldn’t like me. I was surprised to realize that I felt like a natural in the classroom, I learned Spanish very quickly, and that the kids adored me. I quickly grew to love the children I was teaching, as each one had a story and a personality beautiful and all their own. Some touched my heart more than others as their stories brought me to tears. Though their spirits were damaged and their hearts bore scars, their love and compassion was boundless. I spent 2 months in this beautiful country helping to serve the children of this small town and even some families as well. I gained unbreakable bonds, major advances in my ability to speak Spanish, and a heart overflowing with love and joy. When I returned home I soon realized I left a piece of my heart and my mind in Guatemala. Every day I am reminded and heartbroken by the fact that I am not in San Raymundo where I feel I belong. This summer changed my life just as Morning Glory changes the lives of children and their families, and with them the lives of the community, every day. I could not feel more blessed that God provided me with the incredible opportunity to serve on their team. And that is my Morning Glory Story.
