Our Village Living on Malo
We were excited and nervous all at the same time about going to Malo for two weeks. There were just so many unknowns. Thankfully our new village family was wonderful to us and we didn’t (to our knowledge) deeply offend anyone! 🙂 Most of the time we just felt very spoiled by everyone.
In the interest of full disclosure, not everything was fantastic. My eye swelled up and got bloodshot. I’m still wearing my glasses most of the time. Matt was sick the last four days. Lauren bloodied her knees several times. It was hot. There were roaches and big house spiders.
The snapshots below are just that – snapshots of our two weeks. We also sat on mats and storied together, learned how to make several types of laplap (local dish), took bucket showers, played games, showed them pictures of home, and hid in the house for an hour when we couldn’t take any more Bislama.
By the way, I took 419 pictures, so if you have any questions, we probably have an answer – and a photo – for you!
Angie (for Matt, Ethan, Aidan & Lauren, too)
