Yesterday 18 MAR – U.N. peacekeeping chief stated that the brutal killing and abuse of thousands of civilians sparked a government campaign to vilify the United Nations.
A short recap: Fighting broke out Dec.15 among presidential guards in the capital Juba and quickly spread across the country. Soon it took on ethnic dimensions between the dominant Dinka tribe who support President Kiir and the Nuer tribe loyal to Vice President Machar.
Political polarization that has been caused by the conflict now affects the lives of every single person in South Sudan as well the operations of the government, country, Non Governmental Organizations and Faith Based Orgainzations such as Mercy Partners.
Due to this, a scheduled Mercy Mission to deploy next week has been postponed.
We ask for Prayer for:
• The native evangelists of the many tribes we have empowered so that they are not hindered to spread the Victory Message of the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ.
• Our ambition to establish a base of operation in “ near country” and for the funding needed to support the endeavor of Mercy.
