Our communication saw a spike on Sunday as we were able to place calls into neighboring countries. It’s not clear how long this conflict will go; as it becomes more decentralized, it gets more dangerous and tougher to end. The South Sudanese government has agreed to meet for peace talks TODAY .
The really important issue to the country’s survival isn’t contained in this latest conflict but South Sudan’s deeper issues. As many of us on the ground in South Sudan fear the dreaded “ T” word, This conflict has shown that tribalism is still alive.
THE HARD REALITY – Some have witnessed their parents being killed and their homes looted or destroyed.Tens of thousands of people displaced by the fighting are living in makeshift camps. Many are said to be traumatized and in desperate need of psychological help.
We have been working “round the clock” to strategize new tactics on relief and care for this upcoming month. As you can tell there is much to pray about.
PRAY – that the bloodshed will end.
PRAY – for relief efforts to commence soon.
PRAY – that we can receive God’s wisdom to clearly see the obstacles and opportunities that this current conflict has created.
Although this is a prayer update, it is the end of the year. If you are able and led to contribute see link below.
