God of Compassion,
Hear the cries of the people of South Sudan
Comfort those who suffer violence
Console those who mourn the dead
Give strength to South Sudan neighboring countries to welcome the refugees

Prepare the workers at IDP camps and illuminate the lives of UN caregivers and ours.
Convert the hearts of those who have taken up arms
And protect those who are committed to peace.
God of hope,
Inspire leaders to choose peace over violence and to seek reconciliation with their enemies
Inflame us with compassion for the people of South Sudan.
And give us hope for a future built on justice for all
We ask this through Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace and Light of the world.

THE SITUATION :

Heavy shelling, cross fire and many running for cover in JUBA and GUDELE in the past 36 hours.

Fighting continues – scores dead – morgue is full, International Monetary Fund staff has evacuated – South Sudan inflation is currently 300% – Highest in the world.

Our reaction – We have enabled a famine program and Cholera mitigation initiative in preparation for such an event as this.

This Day Sat 9 JULY, 3PM JUBA time – ( South Sudan’s 5th year of Independence from Sudan) – relative calm is reported – OUR communication is unconfirmed as we await continued news.
