OceanPointe Christian Church
Rebecca was invited to OceanPointe by a family friend of the Parsleys who was visiting last summer; Greg met her while she was working at Home Depot and invited her to come to church one Sunday. Rebecca brought her two daughters with her, and then her sister and her family began attending services, too. Rebecca began helping with greeting and serving communion, decided to be baptized in October at our half-birthday prayer walk, and then even filmed a celebration video talking about the joy she had found in Jesus. We ask for prayers for Rebecca now because she has slipped away from the church and her faith. She’s had a lot of physical pain and family problems this winter, and we are praying that she would remember that her first love is Jesus and want to be back in a community that supports and loves her as she draws nearer to Him. Rebecca’s story also makes our staff want to pursue a more structured discipleship plan, so we also request your prayers for that part of our ministry.
We ask for prayer for Steve. Steve began coming to OceanPointe last April with his roommate, Jim. Steve’s parents have been sick for a long time and are quickly declining in health and mental status, and Steve has been very discouraged as of late. He grew up in the Catholic Church but has really appreciated the welcome he’s found at OceanPointe. We feel that Steve could be close to making a decision for Christ, and we pray that he will soon discover the relentless hope that Jesus can give him in the midst of his discouraging circumstances.
Sydney stopped attending Catholic Church in high school when her family life imploded and she became pregnant with her first son. Sydney came to OceanPointe because of one of our Halloween outreach homes and has brought her two sons and husband with her. She was part of a Group this winter and is interested in serving somewhere on a Sunday, and we can easily see her eagerness to learn more about the church and her relationship with Jesus. Please pray that she would be encouraged in her faith and see tangible fruits from her pursuit of God.
Since last fall our church has been pursuing a contract for renting the space next door to the movie theater where we currently meet on Sundays. We ask that you join us in praying for God’s direction about this venue. God has blessed our relationship with the movie theater staff, and we are so grateful for the headway there! A year ago they were very reluctant to rent theaters to a church since they’d had a bad experience with one renting in the past, but the management has been kind to us and even recently suggested that we use their largest theater on Easter Sunday! We are hopeful that our growing relationship with the owner and staff will lead to a quick and fair acquisition of the open space connected to them for our future 24/7 space.
