Valuable Volunteers

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 1 Corinthians 12.4-6

Greetings,

The countless number of volunteers around the world that make LIA’s work possible continually amazes me. The scope of energy, expertise and input our volunteers serve with is impressive, and invaluable.

We feel their impact across the organization. Within the communities we serve, hundreds of church and community members seek to learn from and teach alongside our staff in the field. They enable LIA to reach the most vulnerable in ways that we could not have imagined, and in a much faster time frame.

In many of those same communities, local medical students and doctors volunteer their skill and time to help our clinical staff manage the volume of patients that we see each week. International experts in business, health, and community development volunteer their time and resources to serve on our boards and advisory councils, ensuring that we are headed in a direction that is maximally beneficial to those we serve and ordained by God.

Members of our US partner churches also commit a great deal of their time and resources when they volunteer to travel as part of short-term mission trips.  Others help plan LIA events and benefit receptions. Some have downloaded our video and discussion guide—and have become advocates of LIA and the core values God has revealed to us.  And finally, individuals like you volunteer to hold up the ministry in prayer each week, which we are truly honored by. Your sacrificial gifts in intercession have paved the way; God bless you.

I highlight our various volunteers to boast in the Lord’s goodness and provision. This diversity of service reminds me of 1 Corinthians 12, which lists the many gifts and functions that the body of the Church possesses because of the variety of individuals that compose the body. We are so blessed to have volunteers that serve alongside us, week in and week out, who remind us constantly of what the body of the Bride should look like, and that we are all equipped to serve God with our many talents and gifts that He has imparted on us.

Please join me in praying over the vast team of volunteers who give themselves so selflessly to the work of the Kingdom. Pray that our Lord would renew and refresh their spirits as they serve, and reward them greatly for their obedience to His call. Pray that The Spirit would fill them up so that they might overflow and spread the gospel through their words, actions and relationships. And finally, please join me in thanking God for the incredible individuals that he has called to walk alongside us in a volunteer role.

I thank you for taking time out of your day to uphold the ministry in prayer. May God bless you abundantly throughout your week.

In Christ,
Florence
