Forward in His Presence

‘And [Moses] said to him, “If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here. For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Is it not in your going with us, so that we are distinct, I and your people, from every other people on the face of the earth?”’ Exodus 33:15-16

Grace and peace to you. It is with great encouragement and excitement for the future of LIA that I write to you this week.

Our international board meeting went very well, and through much deliberation and discussion, various strategic plans were affirmed and initiated. As we are eager to implement on these plans, we also realize that “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” (Proverbs 19:21).

As we continue this journey, I am reminded of the story of Moses. As an exiled murderer with great fear of public speaking, he was the most unlikely of leaders, and yet God overwhelmed Moses with His presence through a burning bush and commanded him to carry out a great task. Out of uncertainty Moses, pleads with God and insists that He accompany the Israelites out of Egypt so that the world would know that they are distinct and set apart for a greater purpose. The Lord agrees and provides Moses with very clear direction, to which Moses is obedient and God supplies every need in order to continue in the way. Throughout the process of deliverance, a nomadic existence, and the final revelation of the Promised Land, Moses and the Israelites are continually overwhelmed by God’s presence, faithfulness and mercy.

Much like Moses, LIA has been called by The Lord to be a leader in the field of transformational development. And just as Moses deeply desire God’s presence on their journey, so we pray that He would go with us into the rest of 2014, inhabiting our strategic plans and accompanying us in the arising decisions from the board.

I ask that you join us in praying for the presence of the Lord as we move forward with the plans we have committed to Him. Pray that we would clearly hear where He is directing us, that we would obey His commands without deviating, and that in the end only His glory would be absolutely evident.

Thank you for joining us this week as we march confidently forward in the Lord.

In Christ,
Florence
