2014 is already proving to be a busy year for LIA. We wanted to take a brief pause to celebrate some of the progress, events and opportunities that have come about:
Are you LIA’s next Mi2 Intern? Do you know of a college-age student who might be interested?
Every summer, a team of Mi2 interns serve with our staff in Kenya for three months. The Mi2 interns have the opportunity to serve in the field and explore their calling. Our interns will gain valuable experience in both their area of interest, as well as many other study areas.
Note: the deadline for application submission is February 28, 2014.
Progress: Kisumu
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing transformation take root in communities where our local church partners eagerly serve the Kingdom. This month, we are celebrating the progress in Kisumu, Kenya. Not only have we seen successful orphans and vulnerable children programs through to completion, we are seeing real, measurable change resulting from the Kisumu Abundant Life Clinic.
For the last two years, the clinic has provided affordable access to health and dental care for the community. Its been completely embraced by the community, supported by the government and run by the local church. Because of this clinic, kids like Mohamed (pictured above) are being saved from Malaria and other preventable diseases.
Update: Ground Breaking
Last month, we officially broke ground on LIA’s new training center that will be located in Nairobi. The building will also become the new home to LIA headquarters. By year’s end, the first two phases will be completed and operational, with an additional phase (the accommodation block) being completed next year.
Our senior leadership team had the opportunity to place laminated copies of our foundational verses at the base of the pillars that will support our new training center. It was a truly exciting and inspiring time!

A brand new video shares the vision, model and motivations behind LIA’s ministry. Coupled with it, we’ve created a short discussion guide that can help pave the way for conversations about the importance of transformational development.
