Schools back!
July 1, 2015
The rains have now finally come to the Philippines and so has the humidity. We welcome the rain but with it have the evaporation each day of the rain. Still it is good to see the farmers are in the fields planting the rice and sugar cane, corn and other crops ending a very hot and dry extended summer time. We use rain water a lot in our house and so are really happy now so we do not have to use our well pump all the time.
Thousands of children in our region and millions over the Philippines are back in school if they are able to pay for it. Some government programs pay for up to three children a term through high school but if you have more children which are the case for many families one must take your turn for a semester or two. Starting next school they education department will add year 11 then the following school year they will complete with the addition of year 12. This is required for graduation from high school and attendance in college or higher education. So schools are building extra class rooms and trying to find qualified teachers. One school in Manila has 16,000 students in two sessions and will need many more class rooms. This and 10 other mega schools have been built on fault lines for earthquakes which have hit Manila in the past. This means the schools have to have earthquake drills and build re-unforced classrooms. This will take a lot of time and money but is a disaster waiting to happen.
Junior has now gone back to his final year in Central Philippine Bible College in Cebu. He has grown a lot and preached on his way through when we went to the Baldoza Church of Christ. All were surprised at the way he has developed and the evangelistic zeal he has. He brought 9 visitors including two sisters and their children and his mother. His mother is a Christian from our Kalibo Christian Church and they have been working to get other family members who live near this church in the city of Iloilo to come to the Lord.
Carol and I continue to visit and preach at churches in the area and hope to visit some of the other island churches as well. We are seeing a real need to stress the principles and teaching of the Restoration Churches as it seems all over the world many of our churches and outreaches need to be reminded of why they exist and the importance of stressing the New Testament Gospel instead of the opinions of men. Clearly our region and the world need Revival and how exciting and refreshing this will be!
Please pray for us as we continue to reach souls for Jesus.
Please pray for us as we teach and encourage many small churches of the need to get back to the Bible and also appreciate and understand our Restoration Movement heritage.
Please pray for Junior as he finishes his final year in Bible College then goes out into the Full time Ministry of our Lord.
Please pray for Darryl and I that we can keep in good heal and face the challenges and rigors of living in a difficult climate and environment as we do.
Please pray that we will have addition supporters and increased one time or monthly gifts for our Pacific Rim Ministries.
Thank God with us for our faithful prayer and financial supporters. You are all so appreciated and a blessing to us all!
Serving the Lord with the message of Jesus,
