Sustainable Solutions to Extreme Poverty

Small Holder Poultry Farmer Update

MEET MAGLINE
Magline would often come to the campus begging for food for her 5 children.  Some of the staff would give her some money, but she would come back the next day just as hungry.  She needed more than a hand out.
Our Agronomist, Christian Jean-Pierre met with Magline to see if she would be a good candidate for a chicken business.  Magline never attended school and does not know how to read or write.  She struggled in the group training keeping up with the business principles necessary for success.  Agro Christian prepared a special training booklet using pictures and worked with Magline one-on-one.

Magline is now almost 2 years into her business.  She is one of our most successful farmers with low mortality rates for her crops and some of the fattest chickens around!  She is able to send her 5 kids to school and has even started another business!
We asked Magline what has helped her be so successful.  She said hard work & following the principles of the business that Christian and Robenson taught her.  She also said that her family loves to eat chicken but she insists on paying herself for the chicken they eat.  Pretty cool lady!

MORE OPPORTUNITIES
There are currently 155 KORE Farmers throughout Haiti.  The chicken business is good!  Magline is grateful for the opportunity to care for her family.  Help us expand this project to help more Haitians living in extreme poverty.
