We often ask for your prayers. We come to you today believing that among our partners are people God may want to use to answer some specific prayers.
Our daughter, Bethany, has worked very hard to pull together a quality and increasingly popular pre-school and kindergarten called FAST START. A unique feature of the school is that it is bi-lingual (Indonesian-English) with the English being taught by Bethany and Lynn. With Bethany’s increasing load as principal of the expanding school, Lynn’s need to spend two and one-half months in the US next fall, and other pressures, it would be a great help to have a native-English speaker help pick up the slack.
The need is especially acute this year from late August until early November. [Americans would have the added blessing of missing the rancor of what looks to be a vile campaign season.] Folk who can come at other times would be equally welcome. Additionally there are many ways we can expand the program of FAST START and the social outreach of OPERATION OPPORTUNITY if we have more native English-speakers available.
The person(s) we need should have the following characteristics:
(1) A love for kids (ages 3-6 especially).
(2) An ability to communicate effectively with these kids.
(3) Willingness to spend a few months or longer in Ambon.
(4) Willingness to secure funding from friends who would help underwrite your
ministry in Ambon.
(5) Ready to commit about 30 hours per week to the school.
(6) Willing to help with all kinds of tasks at the school.
(7) Willing to study the Indonesian language and culture with a tutor for at
least 5 hours per week as this would be the grounds upon which visa(s) may
be granted.
If you possess these traits, we’d love to talk with you about helping mold young lives and influence families for the Lord. Contact us at Lynnis70(at)gmail.com or bnanulaitta(at)gmail.com. You may read more specifics in our upcoming newsletter by clicking here.
Allow us to share a few more specific prayer needs.
VISA FOR SPEEDY AND FAMILY. This process continues, but progress is slow. Please pray for God to help us have a breakthrough soon in this process. We and they long to have work and residency permits that will not require them to run out of the country every few months.
PRESENCE IN FOCUS COMMUNITIES. We are grateful that God opened a door for Welly to rent a room in a boarding house in one of our focus communities. Pray for her to develop friendships and be able to share the love of Jesus effectively. Narto and Reni have narrowed their search to two possible homes. A decision should be made this week. Again we pray for friendships and opportunities to exalt the Lord.
Pray for Santy (a young widow) and her son (8) and daughter (5) who lost their father Teddy (33) to cancer in February. Teddy responded to a call for volunteers to help victims of the tsunami in early 2005. He married Santy in 2006 and they continued to serve the strong Muslims in Aceh until 2013 when they returned to Manado for the education needs of their children.
Pray for Al and Linda who have served in Rabbit County. Al began his work in this Islamic stronghold following a earthquake in 2009. After he married Linda, she joined the work. They long to return to the ministry they have been away from since December 2014. Family issues and health concerns have delayed their return. Currently they are involved in the care of Al’s 94-year old grandfather who is apparently not long for this world. Pray for God’s grace and timing of their return to ministry there. Pray that they will be able to use the tools the Lord has provided to be largely financially independent there.
Thank you for your faithful partnership in prayer,
