We have often spoken of the need for a ministry center in Ambon. We dream of a functional building in a strategic location to house the Fast Start pre-K and Kindergarten, provide office and ministry space for the OKe project (Operation Opportunity), to provide a meeting room for worship and ministry, and to house our mini market which is both an income generator and a bridge into our community.
As we have mention land is the type of location we require to accomplish ministry goals is very expensive. We ask you to rejoice with us.
On June 1st the documents for the purchase of a plot of ground for the ministry scenter were legalized. Janes Nanulaitta who leads our government-recognized foundation signed the purchase agreements.
The lot is well located to support our ministry goals in serving both Christian and Muslim background communities. The lot has been long neglected, the hull of a once luxurious home dominated the overgrown landscape. This house was destroyed in one of the rounds of inter-religious fighting has has left physical and emotional scars all over Ambon.
On Saturday, June 4, most of our local team gathered in a spot we cleared for the purpose to surrender this land and ourselves to the Lord and to His purposes in this place.
The purchase was made possible by scrapping together all available funds from Java Evangelism accounts and throughf a friendly loan (no interest, no pressure). As we pray for the development of this land, join us in prayer for the quick repayment of the $62,600 still outstanding. We will be sharing news of plans for developing the property in coming months.
The center will be called the Sizemore Center to honor the late Professor Denver and Mrs. Helen Sizemore. Mrs. Sizemore continues to be a great friend to us and to the work of Java Evangelism as she and Mr. Sizemore have been through the years. Anyone wanting to honor these dear servants can send contributions to Java Evangelism, 105 Westbrook Rd, Carrollton, GA 30116, designated simply Sizemore Center. Join us in surrendering all this to our Lord.
Please pray for Al and Linda. They have served among Muslims in an area we call “Rabbit County”. Al has suffered quite a bit recently with kidney stones. Linda is to give birth to their second child around the middle of July.
Lift Reni and Narto up as well. Reni has helped with Fast Start all three years of its operation. It is difficult for her to follow Doctor’s orders and rest rather than help with all the preparations for the Fast Start graduation on June 11, but she is in danger of miscarrying her and Narto’s first child, thus bed rest in mandated.
Until all Clearly Hear,
