Greetings to you all in the Precious Name of Christ Jesus – our Lord and Saviour! We also wish you all the Very Best and Good Health as well, with God’s choicest blessings during this New Year 2016 and the years to come, of which one month has already gone by.
Annual Convention 2016 hosted by the Jowai Church (with the help of the area churches in Jaintia Hills and Mushai-Laishnat)
Just two more days left before the Annual Convention starts. As you know, it is being hosted by the Jowai Church this year from 5th to 7th February. Most of the speakers are from Khasi and Jaintia Hills; except for the Bible Study on Saturday – 6th February. Emrys will be leading the two Bible Studies.
On Friday (5th Feb.) the Evening Service will be held in the Jowai Church Building, which also has an enclosed covered area to keep those sitting outside the building, warm. Saturday (10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.) services will also be held in the Church building. Then, on Saturday (6th Feb.) night and Sunday (7th Feb.) 1st and 2nd services will be held on the local Government College Playground, which they have very graciously consented to allow the Church to use for the purpose of conducting their Annual Convention 2016. The Sunday Evening Service will once again be held at the Jowai Church Building. Food will be served in the North Liberty School Campus right from the very beginning to the end, with the exception on Sunday afternoon ‘Tea’ which will be served at the Convention Site (Playground). This will help save much time and the services will then be able to start as scheduled.
We are so thankful to all the families in the Jowai Church for their loving generosity in taking care of food and lodging needs, besides various other needs of the Convention. We are also thankful to the area churches in Jaintia Hills and Mushai Laishnat who have also contributed generously towards the Annual Convention expenses. We Praise and Thank the Lord for this.
PLEASE PRAY FOR THIS CONVENTION:
1. that the Lord will lead and guide each and every speaker/teacher;
2. that the participants will be receptive; and
3. that many precious souls will be harvest for Christ and His Church;
4. that many hearts may also be touched to serve the Lord; for the harvest is plentiful……..
Church Planting
The Lord has really blessed and continues to bless through the mission outreach and its team workers! Some more new churches have been planted in 2015, like:
1. Rong Thehang (which is in Assam); being taken care of by the Nonglatem, Mawrathud and Wahiajer Churches under the leadership of Bah Sidlikshon N. Pde. He is a JIM (PTI) Bible School Graduate and a Bible College graduate as well from Lakeview in Chennai. He taught for four (4) years in DLRMS and worked with the area churches on weekends. He then got employment in his Village and near his home church as an Upper Primary School Teacher in July 2014 and has since been ministering to his home congregation and surrounding areas on a self-supporting basis.
2. Riangmang (West Khasi Hills). It is near the Mairang Church and they help take care of this new congregation.
These are in addition to those other new churches that we have already mentioned in our earlier news in the last couple of years.
PLEASE PRAY FOR all of these churches and especially for the church in Cherrapunjee (Sohra) as it is a difficult area. They presently meet in the rented house of a church member. They are now looking for a plot of land to build their own church building.
PLEASE ALSO PRAY FOR SOME OF THE OLDER CONGREGATIONS WHO ARE BEING INFLUENCED BY THOSE WHO PROPAGATE A CENTRALIZED SYSTEM OF CHURCH GOVERNMENT.
Wedding-Bells and Great Joy!

PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR the Grade X and Grade XII students of NLHSS who are preparing to appear for the Board Exam commencing on 3rd March, 2016. Presently, they are doing their internal assessment which finishes on 6th February. Grade XI will start their internal Assessment on 8th February.
PRAY FOR: the new teachers who will be joining DLRMS and also NLHSS.
The Teachers’ Training for the DLRMS is scheduled to be held from February 10 – 12, 2016. The Archie Fairbrother Memorial School in Nongkasen – West Khasi Hills have also requested that their teachers may also be included in this training program under the leadership of Marguerite and her team (Resources Persons). This training program will be held in Jowai.
We thank all of you for your faithful support over the years (prayer and financial). We also thank God for the two teams that visited us between September and November 2016. Most of all we thank the Lord for the spiritual encouragement that all of us here in Meghalaya received through the two team members. Team 1: Glenn & Linda Anderson and Austin and Team 2: Scott & Mitzi Saltsman.
May God continue to bless you and your families.
Love and prayers,
Bnasan & Marguerite Uriah,
Richard & Larisa, and Helen
