“Therefore be as
SHREWED AS SNAKES
and  
INNOCENT AS DOVES…..”

That is what He said when He sent His disciples out to preach in His name. You would think that by the way they act, many Christians think He said just the opposite.
         Many Christians are as ‘shrewed as doves’ and ‘innocent as snakes.’

What did He mean?

He was sending his followers out to make disciples.  
He was saying ‘USE YOUR BRAINS, THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND HOW YOU APPROACH PEOPLE.
‘Think like a snake’ don’t act like one.  Snakes are smart hunters and know how to cautiously approach what they are after.  But their manner of attack creates fear in most people. So think about how you approach people.  

                                    SO MANY HAVE IT BACKWARDS.  
Many Christians are attacking, striking at those they want to make disciples out of for Jesus.  What do you do if a ‘snake’ strikes at you?   You run or you kill it!  So, think like a snake, don’t act like one.
 
                               Doves are symbols of peace and gentleness.
In your manner of approaching people, don’t give them any more reason to fear you than they would a dove.  Doves are gentle.  I’ve never seen a vicious, attack dove.
