Welcome 2014!

Updates for ICOM in Columbus, OH.

Getting ready for 2014
November 13-16, 2014are the dates for this year’s conference in Columbus, Ohio.  We hope you are making plans to be there. This is the first time for ICOM/NMC to ever be in Columbus.  President David Butts has already been very busy visiting churches and meeting with ministers and groups in many parts of our nation.  The theme is “Vertical”.  We are looking for another great year!

Housing Options for 2014
There are 6 hotels that we have contracted with this year to house ICOM attendees.  They are:
1.  Hyatt Regency, our headquarters hotel, attached to the convention center
2.  Drury Inn, also attached to the convention center
3.  Hilton Downtown Columbus, a fairly new hotel on the north side of the convention center
4.  Crowne Plaza Downtown, across the street from Hyatt
5.  Hampton Inn Downtown, the only hotel you have to call by phone to make a reservation at this point.
6.  Red Roof Inn, across the street from the Hyatt/Drury Inn.  This is the only hotel that offers airport shuttle service.

Important Things to Know:

  • There will be workshops offered in both the Convention Center and the Hyatt Regency.
  • There is a food court in the middle between the Hyatt and Drury Inn, along with a few shops.
  • There is surface parking for the Hyatt & Drury Inn.
  • Check out each hotel to see which one offers you any “extras” you might want.

REMEMBER, using the hotels we contract with helps ICOM be able to negotiate better to receive cheaper rates for our attendees as well as schedule meeting room areas! Please use these 6 hotels!

Two Memorial Services
This past week two great godly men entered the presence of our Lord Jesus.
Paul Carrierpassed away Jan. 20th.  Services are being held at the Christ’s Church at Whitewateron Saturday, Jan. 25th.  Paul is a well-known church leader in the Atlanta area and former President of Atlanta Christian College (now Point University).  Paul played a vital role in the 2011 National Missionary Convention when we announced our new name, International Conference On Missions.
Rod Cameron will be remembered this Sunday, Jan. 26th at the Converse Church of Christ.  Rod served as a missionary in Zimbabwe, when it was known as Rhodesia.  He returned to the states to be the Camp Manager of the Pearson’s Mill Christian Service Camp, now Rainbow Christian Camp.  Rod was a man of few words, but his flare and sense of humor came out the many times “Gabby” sat upon his knee.  Or when he put on his Star Trek outfit to portray Mr. Spock.
Both these men were leaders, servants of the King, husbands, fathers, grandfathers, & humble servants.  Please keep their families in your thoughts and prayers.
