Earthquake in Nepal

As many of you know, Nepal suffered a deadly 7.8 earthquake this past Saturday. Reports are now at over 4000 confirmed dead. A team of short term workers arrived just moments before the earthquake hit. Among them was Charlie Stephenson, a personal friend of our associate director, Keith Wood. Charlie is the Camp Manager for Camp Rudolph in Yale, VA. Charlie’s wife Melissa shared this with us:

“It is a team of 4 from Chester Christian Church in Chester VA and 9 from Nebraska Christian College. They are there with Disciple Makers. Their original plan was to go set up an Internet cafe that would also be used as a training center for evangelists. They arrived about 30 minutes before the quake hit. So far they are stuck in a part of Kathmandu which was not as heavily damaged. They have not been able to get to the original destination. They are trying to assist as they are able with buying supplies and handing them out. They are feeling a bit helpless at the moment. Their hope is to still head to the destination if the domestic airport opens up but it is hard to say if it will.”

Disciple Makers is an exhibiting organization at ICOM and we know there are many more in Nepal that you all know as well. Please continue to pray for this team, Disciple Makers, other Christian ministries working in Nepal, and especially for those who are suffering.

Prayers – The ICOM team
