To our faithful partners in prayer,
Our weekly prayer update takes a different form this week as we ask you to pray specifically for these requests:
Our team’s spiritual retreat: We and 16 teammates will gather shortly after we send this email for a short spiritual retreat (beginning 6:00 Sunday evening PNG time and ending noon Tuesday). Please pray that this will be a time of drawing closer to the Lord for both of us and also for each of our teammates. Pray also for Steve and Becky, who have come from the U.S. to lead the retreat and for teammate Jill W, who will lead our worship times.
Hope for a Better Future church conference: This conference begins two weeks from tomorrow. In typical fashion for events here, many details are still pending. Pray for Mike and for the Papua New Guinean men and women to whom others are looking for leadership in working all of them out.
Our teammates in West Africa: Pioneer Bible Translators is meeting Bible translation, literacy, and Scripture impact needs in West Africa where the Ebola virus continues to spread. Many of our teammates were personally acquainted with evangelist Moise Mamy, one of the Ebola team members killed recently by an angry, fearful mob. Pray for God’s comfort for everyone affected by this terrible virus, and pray that God will bring the epidemic to an end for His glory and for the benefit of all in West Africa who remain Bibleless and churchless.
