Praying for Lolo
This month, our Prayer Points focus is on someone all of our staff and short-term team members know and love dearly.
Several days ago, we got the news that Lolo had visited the Peredo Community Hospital as a patient. Dr. Alexandre saw signs of cancer. RoRo took Lolo to Port-au-Prince a few days later and the diagnosis was confirmed. Lolo has stage 3 breast cancer. She will receive chemo, radiation, and surgery in Port-au-Prince.
Cancer is hard. Cancer in Haiti is hard. We are committed to walking with Lolo through this journey that God has called her to walk.
We are so glad that a few months ago, Lolo made a public confession of her faith in Jesus Christ. RoRo baptized her in the river!
Lolo is such a blessing to us, personally, and to all of our staff and teams. Her warm smile and easy laugh are as welcoming as her tasty food. Her heart for service blesses many. And who doesn’t love hearing her song: “Toutmoun manje pare/Everybody food’s ready” at 8 a.m., noon, and 5 p.m.?
Will you join us in praying for Lolo?
- Healing. Father, heal Lolo by the power of Your Word. Thank you for sending Jesus to bear our sins in His body so that by His wounds she might be healed. (Ps. 107:20; 1 Pet. 2:24)
- Prayer. Surround Lolo with righteous intercessors and church leaders who will pray faith-filled powerful, and effective prayers. (Jas. 5:14-16)
- Laughter. Grant Lolo a cheerful heart. Turn her weeping into joy, and fill her mouth with laughter. (Prov. 17:22; Ps. 126:2-6)
- Wisdom. God of wisdom, please guide Lolo in the many decisions she must make during this illness. Give her the confidence that You are leading her in love and power. (Ps. 32:8, Prov. 3:5-6, Jas. 1:5)
As much as Lolo has been a blessing to us, we want to invite you to be a blessing to her. Without the safety net of health insurance like we have in the States, Lolo will be responsible for her medical expenses, which are estimated to be $5,000 or more. HCO is committed to helping provide for her during her treatment and will welcome her back to the Peredo kitchen when she is ready. If you would like to bless Lolo, you can do so using this link.
