Happy New Year!!  It is hard to believe that January of this New Year is nearly over.  John always says time flies when you are having fun.

We continue to be blessed in our ministry here.  We had at least 196 people for our Christmas Eve Service and it was standing room only.  Madonna had help again from some of our young girls from the congregation in making the popcorn balls–they made just over 200.  Our friends, Chepe and Chela Canahuati gave us two boxes of apples to share with those who attended the services.  Madonna later made 50 more popcorn balls to put in the “goodie” bags we share with friends.

There was a lot of singing, dramas from the youth and a message from Marlon Velasquez, one of our fine men in the congregation.  Also Marvin Jimenez and Zaira Lara presented their new daughter to the congregation and asked Madonna to stand with them. There were a lot of visitors at the service and we didn’t know many of them.

January has been a busier month in the clinic than last year and one afternoon Madonna had nine patients which is unusual, but many of them came on the bus that was late due to the terrible road between here and Puerto Cortes.  We now only go to Puerto Cortes every two weeks due to the bad road.  We counted 34 places in the 8 miles where water was clear across the road and it took us 55 minutes to go the 8 miles.  They have done a little work on it, but we keep having rain and that keeps them from doing anything.

Week before last we had a small group for the morning service due to the cold and we thought there would be even less this past Sunday due to the rain, but we were happy to see nearly 30 people at the service.  Madonna and Hermano Reyno continue to take turns giving the lesson on Sunday morning.

We had fourteen of our youth who attended the Christ in Youth Conference held this year near Tegucigalpa.  We are thankful to have so many fine youth in the congregation.

We continue to be thankful for our good health at 80 and 90 and for the blessing of serving the Lord here in Las Brisas.  We appreciated the many Christmas greetings via “snail mail” and E-mail.  Many of our Christmas cards did not arrive until the middle of January.  Thanks you always for your prayers.

In His Love, John and Madonna
