Raise the Roof
We praise God for the opportunity of the much needed remodeling of the Higuey Christian Church (HCC) building. Higuey Christian Church was founded in the spring of 2011 through small in-home bible studies and a strong children’s ministry. Over the past three years HCC has grown and is now a vibrant Christian Church reaching the community of Villa Cero, Higuey.
EDCM purchased the small property in 2011, which included a small one room church building that had a tin roof. The church has grown substantially and was ready for a remodeling of the church building. The new construction offers the following:
- A permanent concrete roof: safer, cooler, permanent
- A much higher roof: more space inside auditorium, cooler
- New entrance: gives community an obvious entry point
- Tile floor: allows for easier clean-up, beautiful
- Allows for a second floor to be added in the future: possible classrooms, community center
Victor and Heidy Hernandez have been the lead ministers at HCC since its beginning in 2013. Victor and Heidy resided in Costa Rica when God called them to move to the Dominican Republic to partner with EDCM and help launch the Higuey Christian Church. We praise God for their faithfulness and leadership.
A huge thanks to Broadway Christian Church (Mattoon, Il) and Christ’s Church Mandarin (Jacksonville, FL) for partnering with us and making this dream a reality.

once again this year to help continue the progress being made at Higuey Christian Church. This year, Broadway and Minier removed the tin roof of the current church building and began the process of remodeling the Higuey Christian Church building (see above article). Broadway and Minier also visited many of the local church members in their homes having prayer and studying the Word with them. Many team members were deeply impacted by the home visits as they experienced the typical Dominican lifestyle and had the opportunity to share their lives with their brothers and sister in Christ.

The EDCM Board of Trustees gathered together in early November in the Dominican Republic to hold its annual Board Meeting. As always, the meetings were full of reflection, discussion, vision casting and prayer. There was also a little bit of time for some fun! EDCM is thankful to the board members for their dedication to the Lord and to His ministry in the Dominican Republic.
Thank you board members: Greg Sexton, Jeff Lane, Larry Travis, Neil Webster, Scott Mulhauser, Joni Colle, Becky Dobbins, Ryan VandeLinde, and Erin VandeLinde.

Micah’s Minute
Fútbol y Yo
Well, most of you know that I love soccer. I started playing last year and I really like it. I am on a team called the Bulldogs and recently we have been playing in a tournament. Even though my team is made up of smaller kids like me, we have played really well and have beaten many of the big kid teams.
Actually, this weekend my team is playing the the championship game! If we win, we are going to be champions! However, the team we are playing against is made up of really big kids, so I am not sure we will win. But that is ok, because they are all my friends.
Well, wish us luck, because even though they are my friends, I still really want to win! See ya, gotta go practice!

Josiah’s Jot
The other day I had a play at my school. We got on a huge stage and sang “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer.” My friend Darnell was Rudolph. I was just a reindeer. It was a lot of fun and I sang really loud. I wanted my mommy and daddy to hear me. And, I’m the only student that actually speaks English, so my teacher told me to sing really loud. Enjoy my pics!
