Since we joined forces with the International Conference on Missions in 2015, it has been almost two years since we met together in Hershey. We’ve got a great conference planned for 2016 – be sure to make all your arrangements THIS WEEK.

Housing Limits Make Reservations Important

   Before I began volunteering with the Eastern Christian Conference, I never saw behind the scenes. There are a tremendous number of moving parts that must work together in concert in order for the Eastern Christian Conference to function properly. One of the key components is a hotel with adequate meeting space and reasonable rates. For many years we have found that home in Hershey, PA.
   However, convention hotels are very particular with the number of rooms which must be reserved and occupied in order to receive meeting space at reasonable rates. For our conference to thrive, we need our participants to reserve their housing early in the process. That allows the hotel to be assured that we will meet our contract requirements – and it helps us to prepare for those who will be participating. Last minute reservations make planning difficult, and also diminish our ability to reserve space.
   That’s why it’s important that you reserve your housing soon. August is a critical month for our planning. Tell them Joe sent you when you check in and we’ll make sure they have a Hershey bar ready for you and your family.

   We’re hoping that you are planning to attend this year’s Eastern Christian Conference. We’re working now on last minute details to make 2016 a memorable conference. But we want you to know that our conference has specific goals in mind. In 2009 our leaders went through a re-evaluation of our deepest values. They are:

  1. The Restoration Movement
  2. Excellence in Preaching, Teaching and Worship
  3. A Family Friendly Atmosphere
  4. Unity in Our Diversity
  5. Kingdom Growth – Regional, Congregational and Individual
   We continue to work towards honoring these. We are the only annual gathering rallying the congregations of the Restoration Movement in the Northeast. It’s important for us to meet together and share our victories and work together toward common goals. We continue to provide the most excellent speakers and presenters possible to challenge and encourage our churches. There are services for people of all ages, with children and youth parallel programs. And even though our congregations vary in size and shape and personality, the Kingdom grows stronger when we spur each other on by meeting together.

   There are plenty of ways that you can spend your money – and there are many conference choices for you to make. But this is OUR conference. It belongs to us together – a trust handed to us by a previous generation of pioneering restoration Movement church leaders in the East. The ECC celebrates who we are and what we can become. When you spend November 11-13 in Hershey, PA it will be a valuable use of your time. And we believe that the Kingdom of God will be stronger because we met together.
