Go + Serve

This e-newsletter is designed especially for people like you who are considering cross-cultural missionary service. We know it can be an exciting yet intimidating journey, and we want to walk alongside you in the process. We’ve been equipping and sending missionaries to the mission field for 66 years and are excited to explore how we may partner together. If you’d like to talk to someone in our Mobilization division, email us at mobilization@cmfi.org or call 317.578.2700.

Meet Joel and Rachel Williams

When Rachel spent several months during college as a Reveal missionary with CMF in Kenya, she returned home with a passion for cross-cultural ministry and the people of Kenya. Upon getting married, Rachel and her husband, Joel, knew they would one day serve together in East Africa. Fast forward three years and now Joel, Rachel, and their two little girls are preparing to join the Church Catalyst team in Turkana, Kenya. Joel has served in youth ministry and Rachel is a nurse, so they are excited to work with the youth of the Kipsigis tribe and to address the spiritual and physical needs of the community. Pray for the Williams family as they continue to raise support and prepare for their first term in Kenya.

Hear more from Joel and Rachel in the above video.

Notice Something New?

Have you noticed anything new on CMF’s website lately? We hope so! CMF is excited to announce that we are entering a new field: Sri Lanka! Located off of the coast of southeast India, this island country is home to 23 million people, and less than 1% of them are Evangelical Christians. CMF’s pioneer missionaries prayerfully hope to be to the field by 2017 and use strategies such as Community Health Evangelism (CHE), discipleship training and ESL (English as a Second Language) Bible discussion groups to share the Gospel.

If ministry in Sri Lanka or beyond stirs your heart, take the first step by submitting a Pre-Application online today. A member of the Mobilization division would love to personally contact you!

Where could I serve?

Take a look at all of our updated personnel needs here: Personnel Needs. If none of the these needs seem like a good fit for you, we’re happy to talk about other opportunities that may be a good match. Some current needs include the following:

Student MinisterUkraine: Our team is looking for a teammate (single or couple) willing to assist with the work in Lviv. Right now there is one couple whose focus is on student ministry. They would love teammates to work alongside them and their Ukrainian partners. The desire to learn the Ukrainian language is required. They are looking for a long-term commitment of 2 to 4 years.

Organizational Director, Ethiopia: The urban poor team in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is looking for an individual to serve alongside our partner organization, Strong Hearts Ethiopia, in the area of organizational development. Strong Hearts Ethiopia is a locally-based community development organization that implements programs within the community, addressing the needs of those living in especially difficult circumstances. This person would work alongside the Director of Strong Hearts to help develop appropriate organizational structures needed to make all areas of Strong Hearts function harmoniously, as well as bring new ideas for ministry into reality. This person should have a management and/or human resources background. Ministry experience also preferred. The team is looking for someone who can make a 2 to 4 year commitment to the ministry.

Globalscope Campus Ministry, Salamanca, Spain: This Globalscope team is looking for young, committed individuals who are dedicated to reaching out to Spanish students in a post-Christian context. The right people are self-starters who have the initiative to learn Spanish, create campus events and programs, and add an exciting new dynamic to the ministry. A one-year commitment is required.

What We’re Watching

Part of CMF’s role as a sending organization is to be thoughtfully engaged and knowledgeable about significant events that have impacted the fields where we are joining into God’s work. For those who are passionate about ministry in Eastern Europe we would recommend the riveting documentary Winter on Fire. Using actual footage, this brief film highlights the events which initiated the political unrest and revolution that began in Ukraine in 2013 and continue to impact the nation today. Join us in praying for peace and restoration in Ukraine and for the furthering of the Gospel through CMF’s team and national partners who continue to serve there.
