and Prayer Requests

Dear Friends and Partners of Java Evangelism,

Over the past two weeks we have had several encouraging ministry discusions.   We feel God has led us to a promising plan for the remaining years of ministry the Lord may give us in Indonesia.   Ambon where we currently live will be our focus, the Lord willing, for the next three to four years before we eventually “pull back” a bit as we age.

We plan two major emphases.  First we will seek to minister to nominal believers in the Christian community.   We will do this through assisting and encouraging the FAST START pre-school and kindegarten led by our daughter, Bethany; and through a bi-lingual worship time.   We will rent a room perhaps in a hotel where we will conduct lively worship services using English and Indonesian.   We realize that initially many will come only to gain proficiency in English.   We are determined to  bring them into a prayer-saurated environment where they will hear the message of the cross clearly and unashamedly.  We believe the Word and the Spirit will do their work.

We will also be building bridges into the non-Christian parts of town by serving in impoverished  communities where hope and opportunity are lacking.   These conditions are often used by radicals to recruit young people for terroristic efforts.   We want to address these situations with the Lord’s help in a way that will open doors for the gospel message.

We are grateful that the Lord is currently bringing together a team that will make these programs possible and will be able to carry on should we have to pull back because of age or health.

We will introduce you to the specifics of these programs as we go along.   Your prayers as always will be crucial to the success of any efforts on the ground. We are requesting the use of some facilities where we can carry out these programs.  Please pray for the Lord to open and close doors according to His will.    Also, we anticipate being able to provide opportunites for short-term workers who would like to come for a while to make an impact on our religiously divided city through the service programs we will be developing.

Thank you for praying.

Until all Clearly hear,
Dennis and Lynn
