It’s not about the tasks

Jean Ingelow writes: “The glory is not in the task, but in doing it for Him.”
The work team from Okolona Christian Church (Louisville, KY) recently returned from a mission trip to Honduras. Although the number of tasks seemed overwhelming at times, the team stayed focused on Jesus and continually glorified the Lord, not the tasks at hand. The team was a blessing to the churches, schools, and staff in Honduras through all that was accomplished:
- First mobile clinics in the the church communities of Guangalola and Tela
- Mobile clinic at Gonzales
- Saw patients in the Ocotillo Health Clinic for 8 days
- Total clinic patients: 951
- Total eye patients: 533
- Partnered with Drs. Darwyn and Sandra from Tegucigalpa
- Partnered with Dr. Loida in the dental clinic for 3 days
- VBS for grades K-12 at Ocotillo and for grades 1-9 at Gonzales
- Gift distribution to sponsored kids at Ocotillo
- Photographed new children available to sponsor at Ocotillo & Gonzales Christian Schools
- Water purification system installed, running and working. The footer was dug for fencing around Purification System and a roof installed over Purification System
- Baby layettes/home visits at Guangalola, Tela, and Gonzales
- Party for Okolona church’s sponsored children at Ocotillo and Gonzales
- Team members sponsored an additional 6 children
- Ladies’ Bible studies at Ocotillo & Gonzales Christian Churches
- New Mom Bible study at Ocotillo Christian Church
- Men’s Bible studies at Ocotillo and Ideal Christian Churches
- Attended the 3 year celebration at Ideal Christian Church/Bible Institute
- Spoke at Choloma Christian Church at the Thursday evening service
- Taught Sunday classes for children/adults at Omoa Christian Church
- Worked in the kitchen at Omoa and Ocotillo
- Distributed school packs for every child at Ocotillo Christian School
- Beach party for the girls at the Omoa Children’s Home
- Attended Ocotillo Sunday Church service
- Shared music in Spanish and English at several Bible studies and Church services
The above was in addition to regular scheduled kitchen work; devotions at CaryHill; baking brownies, cakes and cookies to share with packed lunches; Bible studies; shopping; fellowship; attending a funeral for Tito, Darwyn’s Sanchez’s brother-in-law; schedule changes; menu changes; van adventures; and a visit to the hospital. Thank you again for your service to the Lord!

Cuba
- Eduardo’s back/neck is much improved. Even though he still has some limitations, he is pain free and able to go about his normal activities. He has completed physical therapy but continues to do exercises to strengthen his back/neck. Eduardo is a Cuban national who leads this thriving ministry.
- Andy Sims (Lifeline’s Leadership Development Director) and Kevin Hart just returned from another successful trip developing leaders in Cuba. In addition to a one-day combined seminar for 45 leaders, Andy & Kevin spent time working closely with 2 specific house churches, training leaders, evangelizing in the streets, doing children’s ministry and encouraging the believers.

The last night in Cuba was a special communion service where some of the house churches gathered together. About 300 were present, which is huge by Cuban standards and double the size of a similar service 2 years ago. One-third of those present were teenagers who gathered in a separately for the first time.

El Salvador
- The house church at Merliot had a worship vigil until 1:00 am last week.
- The Santa Tecla Christian Church held a youth activity where more than 80 young men worshiped God together!
- Pastor Alejandro held an activity at the beach and 75 people attended and Eduardo was baptized! Glory to God!

Four work team members were baptized in Haiti last week: Allison Carfrey, Tessa Yost, Kim Alwin, and Becky Kidd!

- Mark your calendars! A concert featuring the Indy Brass Choir is coming to Chapel Rock Christian Church (Indianapolis, IN) on Sunday, May 10 at 4pm to benefit Lifeline’s ministries. We hope you can join us!
- Praising God for fruitful sponsorship drives this past weekend!! Many children will be blessed by the prayers and support of new sponsors in their lives!
- Praising God for safe travels for all of Lifeline’s team members and volunteers! Prayers as they continue to travel to many cities and states representing the ministries of Lifeline including ABC events, child sponsorship drives, leadership training, etc.

Northern Hills church (Calgary, Canada) is hosting their community Easter carnival at a local rec center on Easter weekend. Last year, over 1000 people from the community came for the inaugural event! Pray for the church as they finalize preparations and pray that this outreach event shares Jesus love with the community. (Lifeline partnered with churches in the Calgary area and the Intermountain Church Planters Association to plant this new church in January 2014.)
- Tito, our gatekeeper at Ocotillo & brother-in-law to Darwyn Sanchez (Lifeline’s Director of Schools in Honduras), passed away over the weekend. Please keep his family in your prayers.
- Pray for Vic and Rosa Miller and Shelby Baxter, as they will be the primary leaders of the work team in Haiti March 23 – April 1.
Prayers for all sponsors to feel inspired, motivated and dedicated to be in prayer for their sponsored children and their families.
Prayers as we engage churches in our Roots ministry and for the children that will be sponsored through Roots. Thanking God for New Day Christian Church and their partnership in Guatamala. Many children will find joy in building relationship and communicating with their new sponsors.
Prayer Requests from Cuba:
Pray for Eduardo and Elsie, two house church leaders in Cuba who will be taking oral exams this week to complete their seminary degree. These leaders receive a scholarship from the ministry to attend week-long intensive courses each month.
Pray for the new leaders being discipled by the pastors in Cuba. Each pastor must constantly develop new leaders to start more house churches so the church can keep multiplying. Potential leaders eventually start “prayer houses” where they form the nucleus for the next house churches.
Pray for the house church leaders as they attempt to work together more to create new ministries specifically targeting teenagers.
