mPower Approach – Jan 2015 eNews – How God Connected Us

I heard of mPower Approach many years ago as a young dental student roaming the Global Missions Health Conference (GMHC). I signed up for their monthly newsletter and, somehow, kept it out of my junk mail folder to faithfully read the many ways in which mPower Approach was reaching all areas of the world in so many different ways. I prayed after every newsletter that I would get a chance to go with them one day.

Years later, God gave me the opportunity to be a part of an mPower Approach team. My confidence in extracting teeth wasn’t great, but my willingness to serve kept me pressing forward to join the team. This past November, I had the privilege of joining a dental team to Kenya. Naturally, there were challenges throughout the trip, but the one thing no one could deny was the presence of the Lord working through the six students we trained. What is deemed impossible-to train foreign students how to extract teeth in 5 days-was beautifully displayed.

“That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.'” 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NLT)

There is undoubtedly a multi-dimensional sacrifice in serving God-where ever that may be. But, I encourage you if you are feeling the nudge to be a part of an mPower Approach trip, love the Lord your God, answer the Call, and serve selflessly. You won’t miss His work at hand.
