Lee Smith was extremely impressed with what he experienced during a trip to serve in Nairobi, Kenya, four years ago. He says, “There’s not a day goes by that I don’t think about Africa.”
“I saw a vision and an organization that was taking Christ to the people of Mathare in a multifaceted way,” he said. “We consider CMF to be the benchmark standard of mission organizations because of the holistic approach they take to ministry.”
Recently, Lee wore his BigDent shirt at a spiritual retreat and it drew a lot of questions.
“At the end of the weekend I felt called to go back to the site to support someone else,” he said. “We wanted to find someone who had a business that was centered on children. The BigDent website made it very easy for me to filter location, occupation and need.”
On his Facebook page, Lee promoted his challenge to fund a daycare business run by a woman named Joyce. Four friends joined him to provide the full amount of Joyce’s loan.
“Facebook was a great way to share this opportunity and explain BigDent to others and get them involved,” said Lee. “I see BigDent as very similar to child sponsorship. But instead of helping the children, we’re helping their parents raise a family and run a successful business. Same story, a different approach.”
