Probably the scariest word in the news these days is “Ebola.” Deaths from the outbreak are currently above 6,000, according to recent published reports. The Ebola epidemic proves to be a rising concern for Americans, with 65% reporting they are “very concerned” or “somewhat concerned” about a widespread outbreak in the US, according to a recent ABC News/Washington Post poll.
At FAME, Ebola has been on our hearts, in our prayers and impacting how we serve for months. The current Ebola outbreak actually started in March 2014, in a part of the world that desperately needed better health care systems, health education, and health workers to meet the needs even before Ebola became an issue. Now they are in even greater need. Add to that a culture of superstitions and people who do not know God. Long after Ebola has run its course, tens of thousands more will die from other preventable medical problems.
While other Americans are giving into fear, your prayers and partnership with FAME are saving countless lives. Thank you! With your help, more than eight shipments of medical supplies were sent to aid and resupply the medical workers serving in the Ebola affected countries. Half the supplies went by air and the rest by boat. Today, urgent requests continue as this epidemic continues to kill.

The prevention of a health crisis here in the U.S. often starts with how we influence the rest of our world. Governments, the World Health Organization, or even a FAME medical mission team can’t bring the healing that is needed. Only God can. That starts with you and me. As we lay all that we have before God, He moves and works. Today, medical evangelism is a powerful platform that God is using to open doors to share the Gospel and lift up Jesus before all. The needs physically and spiritually around the world are great! God is greater!
