Just a quick update on our recent travels. On October 26th we presented our work to the Athens Chapel Church of Christ in Bath, NC. It was a great time (and we got to hang out with everyone at their Fall Festival) at the church as we were able to present during the Sunday School hour. Our new friends there were very generous in so many ways. It was an absolute blessing to be with the church there.
On next Sunday, November the 9th we’ll be at the Trinity Assembly of God in Midlothian, MD. This is in Nikki’s home area so of course there will be a lot of family time to go along with that. We look forward to what will be a new place to present! Pray that we can communicate clearly and that everyone can see Christ glorified during the morning.
The following week we will be attending ICOM (International Conference on Missions) in Columbus, OH. Thanks especially to a couple who will be housing us (when we’ve actually never met before).
Thanks to runawayguide.com AND VERY thankful our ‘roadtrip’ doesn’t take us to California.
One of the most amazing things about this is the amount of hospitality we’ve experienced. It makes me want to be more hospitable. Paul simply says ‘practice hospitality’ in Romans 12. Peter says ‘offer hospitality without grumbling’. Those are simple little statements. I’m not sure if they are commands as much as they are reminders. I realize this is not always an easy practice so thanks to those who are doing such a wonderful job at embodying this simple aspect of the Christian life.
Maybe that is the real lesson or thought for today. Just as we should always be acting and moving toward God we should also be observing life around us at the same time. What makes this person so kind. What adversity have they faced and still manage to be more than willing to embody Christ on so many levels. One of the sides of fundraising that I’ve had to balance is resisting the (temptation perhaps) of making everything about fundraising.
It’s not.
It’s about being blessed to have an opportunity to meet many different kinds of people who all have been gifted by the Spirit and their own personal pursuit of God. I appreciate that aspect of what I can truly now see is a Kingdom without borders.
Coming up soon is the time to make some big decisions on our schedule. Be in prayer for this so we can move forward with the work in France. We’re looking forward to being part of the planting movement in France. Our monthly support goal should be close enough to some goal to sustain our activity. We’re still building our base and are blessed to have so many join in in just the last two weeks alone.
