November 2014

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Galatians 6:9

Last January a team of seven traveled with mPower Approach to Myanmar. A group of 25 national believers came with the goal of expanding their skill sets to impact the Kingdom. The training team shared dental, vision, Bible, and Community Health Evangelism skills.

Zuala was chosen from 80 applicants for vision training. He had been walking with Jesus for about 10 years, determined to live out the Gospel in a Buddhist enclave. The gentle, pony-tailed trainee loved on each patient who came to our clinic, tenderly coaxing frightened children and the elderly.

One of our trainers recalls Zuala lifting up a scared young girl, cradling her in his arms as he prayed over her. He was a quiet man who used every break to find a peaceful place to read his Bible. He was proud to be part of the team, coming each day in pressed shirt and pants, probably the best he owned.

By the second day of training, he and his team were running the vision clinic. Many of the villagers traveled several days over primitive paths to seek help. Most had never had their eyes tested. Many laughed out loud when they saw clearly for the first time through their new glasses.

Months after the mPower Approach team returned home, Zuala and his teammates continued seeing hundreds of patients. His goal in 2015 was to move into a Buddhist village with this vision ministry.

But God had other plans for this sweet man… A mere nine months after our training he was called home, but not before hundreds heard the Good news of the Gospel!

“Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.”
John Wesley
