NorthPointe Christian Church

Please pray for Brian as he seeks help with a long-term addiction. Brian started attending NorthPointe last Fall and said that ever since then his issue has become more apparent and his need for God’s grace more evident. Brian is in his mid-40’s and is a brand new believer. Please pray that God will deliver him from this addiction and that Brian will learn more about God’s grace, forgiveness, and freedom through this fight.

Please continue to pray for Karen. I mentioned Karen last month. She’s the young lady that watched the Bible mini-series on TV and decided she needed to find out if this is true or not. She found NorthPointe online and has come to worship every weekend since then. She attended our New to NorthPointe class on Sept. 28th and has gotten involved with a ladies Bible Study. She told me that it still feels weird coming to church every week, but she gives herself a little pep talk and is always glad she came. Pray that she will put her faith in God and make Jesus her Lord and Savior.

Please pray for Richard, a gentleman I met while swimming at the YMCA recently. He was very interested in NorthPointe and what we do. During our conversation, Richard was very honest about his feelings towards church, which weren’t very pleasant, but he liked that we were about serving our community and being the best church for others, not ourselves. He serves on the board of directors for the Lincoln/Cumberland Boys and Girls Club and knew that we had done some things with them, but not clear on what. He gave me his contact info to follow up with him on an idea he had for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Pray that this random meeting in a pool will lead to God doing something special in Richard’s life!

SouthPointe Christian Church

Jimmie: Jimmie has been coming to SouthPointe off and on for probably well over a year now. He’s one of those guys that shows up for a few weeks in a row, seems to be all in, and then disappears for no apparent reason for weeks or even months at a time. For the past couple months, however, Jimmie has been extremely consistent and committed, one of our most valued team members on Sunday mornings. The kicker? He’s now living with a very solid SouthPointer who has graciously taken him in AND he is currently going through the Celebrate Recovery program. Pray that Jimmie will continue to take positive, healthy steps forward and that, most of all, he will stay committed to God and to the community in which God has placed him.

Ashley: Ashley was baptized and got married within just a few weeks of each other earlier this year. Her husband is a committed Christian and she is now ecstatic about her new found journey with God after initially being very skeptical. She’s come a long way in 2014. Her involvement with Home Groups profoundly influenced her decision to follow Jesus and now she’s taken yet another positive step forward. Earlier this month, Ashley started meeting weekly with a woman in her Home Group that had previously invited Ashley into a discipling relationship with her. They are currently working through the story of Scripture together and learning together what it means to be disciples of Jesus. Pray that this friendship is profound for Ashley (and also for the other woman involved) as she begins her walk with Jesus. Also pray that more discipling relationships like this will emerge within the SouthPointe community.

Vince: Vince is the father in one of the coolest families we have at SouthPointe. They are a true joy to everyone that they interact with. His wife is one of the most loving, committed followers of Jesus we have in our community. However, Vince is skeptical, and by no means identifies himself as a follower of Jesus. That said, though, he is one of the most faithful Sunday morning attenders we have. He’s even taken it upon himself to be an usher, helping people find seats who walk into the service a little bit late. His wife tells us that this is the most involved he’s ever been in a church and she even tells us that he likes it! What blows all of us away is the fact that Vince is now consistently attending a Home Group. Our prayer is that God will continue to work in his life and that Vince will come to recognize God’s presence and will give his life to Jesus.

BridgePointe Christian Church

Thank you for praying for George and Dawn, their daughter Madison, and her friend Ashley. All four were baptized on Sunday, Sept. 28! Each have an incredible story to tell!

George wrote, “For 32 years, Lyme Disease has messed with my ability to speak, think and walk. In June, my wife suggested we try BP.  The church made me feel like I was home. It opened my eye’s and heart to Jesus and all he can do. I am no longer asking ‘Why me.’ I know he will guide me on the right path.”

Ashley told her story, “My life was going downhill. My family didn’t have money for anything. At 14, I started to stress about how to feed my family and keep them from arguing. I started harming myself and my grades dropped. BridgePointe showed me there is a Jesus out there that loves and cares about me. I am excited to start my new life with Jesus and his church.”

Please continue to pray for them as they learn to surrender to Jesus. Each of them faces different obstacles in their journey that will require the strength, wisdom, and peace of the Holy Spirit.

OceanPointe Christian Church

We celebrated our half birthday on Sunday, October 5th! The day before, we had a gathering at Second Beach in Middletown to finish our first prayer circle of the island. One of our staff, Kristine Parsley, feels that God wants her to circle Aquidneck Island in prayer, much like Joshua did with Jericho. The perimeter includes about sixty miles, and within three months, Kristine and some others with her had walked that circle in deliberate prayer for the revival of this island and for God to bring the walls around people’s hearts falling down. We asked the people of OceanPointe to join us for the last leg of the first prayer circle, and six people were baptized at the end!! It was a day for celebrating what God has already done with our church in bringing lives to Him, and it also served as a reminder that we’re not finished yet. Kristine is feeling called to circle the island in prayer a total of seven times, so this is just the beginning. We can’t wait to see how God continues to answer the prayers our team and supporters are lifting up for this island and all the people here!

Another area of continued prayer for OceanPointe is disciple-making. With a growing number of people getting baptized, we are needing more people to step up alongside our staff to train them as disciples of Jesus. We came here to make disciples who make disciples, and we would appreciate your prayers for this central purpose of our church. Pray for our staff as we individually disciple new believers, and pray also for the people around the new believers to see the changes God is bringing about in so many lives!

Please pray for our search for OceanPointe’s 24/7 space. We have continued to grow and are in a spot to evaluate what is next. Join us as we ask God to open up channels for us to find the space that will best enable us to reach our community.
