Greetings from Taiwan:
“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.” (Rom 5:6) Not long ago, Brenda and I walked into a bank, in Michigan, and attempted to apply for a loan to buy a house. The loan officer was very polite, very professional; and I appreciated the fact that she didn’t break out into hysterical laughter until after we left the bank. Not a single question could we answer to a lender’s satisfaction — even the easiest of questions! “What’s your cell phone number?” “Michigan driver’s license?” And, so on…
We left the bank knowing that we were powerless to purchase a home prior to moving to Livonia. We would have no address to which a container might be shipped. Noah would not know which of Livonia’s three high schools he would be attending. Brenda wouldn’t know what pieces of furniture she was going to move and not move. And, most important, we would be moving twice. Once into a rental, and again when we finally qualify for a home loan. That’s when the leadership of Memorial Church of Christ stepped in! Brenda picked out the house she wanted (that’s another story of how God provides), and the church bought it for us! Just like what Jesus did, “What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus!”
We have yet to secure a shipping company, and are waiting on a third, and last, estimate; and praying that this one, too, doesn’t break the bank. Please pray with us!
Thank you for your prayers! These are busy days, filled with last opportunities to speak into the lives of people we love, people that God loves. Please pray that we will be faithful! Saying good-bye well is so important, and how it hurts to say good-bye to individuals whom you know you may not see in heaven. Pray for the Come Church family, as they look to the future.
Thank you, Lord! For, when we are weak and powerless; You, Lord, are mighty to save! Thank you for praying!
