Life Circle – Thank You for serving our King in simple ways Feb 21 2014

Haiti

The past 2 weeks in Haiti have been a whirlwind of activity and victories for Christ as the Word has gone out in the Creole language.  

• 9 forty-foot containers of ABC food were finally delivered; this represents 2 ½ million meals.  Another blessing was that representatives from several churches who packed that food (Compass Christian, Colleyville, Texas and Southland Christian, Lexington, Kentucky) were here to see the food arrive. God orchestrated the timing to fit their arrival; amazing!

• Paul Mercer from Gideon’s Canada spent 4 days with us distributing some of the 10,000 Bibles provided by a Canadian donor through the Gideon’s. Over 1000 Bibles were distributed by Paul and our work team. (see photo on right)

• Gretchen took Paul Mercer and a group to the government hospital and the prison in Petit Goave to hand out nearly 500 Bibles.  This was quite an eye opener for Paul and the team; the prison condition is unbelievable…in one room alone 78 men are crammed in to a cell that is approximately 8×20 feet. They cheered when they got the Bibles and thanked us profusely. We also took them ABC food.  Even the police at the prison received Bibles and were happy. We also gave them to several U.N. officers who are stationed here from the Ivory Coast.

• The work was finally finished on the third floor of the children’s home in Port au Prince. This was the last of the earthquake damage that got completely repaired.

• Andy Sims (Lifeline’s Leadership Development Director) along with Myron Williams (Southland Christian Church, KY), Kevin Hart (Indian Creek Christian Church, IN) and Jim Dewar (Maryland) conducted a leadership seminar at Lifeline’s Mahotiere campus.  It was an extremely successful seminar for the Lifeline pastors and church leaders. Afterwards, they came to Grand Goave and participated in the Education Task Force Seminar, lead by Task Force leader Julia Keener.

• The fire is out and a new generator is in place.  Praises that they were able to get a loan to get a new generator and that they are back up and running!

• We completed all of the January 2013 Gift Distribution in Haiti (Christmas distribution was already completed in January with the women’s team).

• Pastor Philippe from Lazile passed away recently; he was wheelchair confined and paralyzed since a stroke a couple of years ago.  Bob attended the ceremony at Lazile.  He said it was a true celebration of homecoming for Pastor Philippe.   Lifeline pledged to raise funds for the roof at Lazile that is desperately needed; the health team worked there 2 weeks ago holding mobile clinic and got rained upon!

• Construction on the new Children’s Home at our Grand Goave campus is coming along; the trusses are going up for the roof. (see photos on right)

• The work at Deuxieme Plaine and Laregal (renovations/repairs/new structures; all pre-funded) are happening. These churches are elated.

Honduras

• A shipment of the October 2013 sponsor gifts, furniture and many other much-needed items for the Omoa Children’s Home are on their way.

   

• Money for mattresses, clean-up, repairs, and the shipping of the furniture and household items that was provided to Lifeline by IDES is already being used.

• Brenda Johnson, volunteer, is going to Honduras to distribute sponsor gifts and also to cook for the men’s team, who are working on much-needed projects, and for the MEET Team, which is introducing leaders to Lifeline’s ministry in Honduras.

Navajo Ministry

• A men’s team from churches in northern Arizona will soon start work on the septic system repairs.  Pray for their safety and blessings for their willingness to serve with us. 

USA

• Thank you to everyone who has voted for Lifeline in the FedEx grant contest through Facebook; we’re up to 789 votes!  You can still share this with your friends and vote onlinethrough February 23.

• Praises for the response for the financial plea for the fire destruction in Haiti! 

• The damages to the electrical system in Haiti as a result of the recent fire.  Pray for the staff as they begin the difficult work of repairing and replacing these things. 

• Continued prayers for the funds to replace everything destroyed in the fire. 

• Rob DeVoe, Lifeline’s Database Manager, is undergoing radiation and chemotherapy for esophageal cancer; pray for healing. God is good! 

• Bobby Curlee, Lifeline’s Plant Manager, has a serious knee problem and he heads to Honduras in 2 weeks.  He needs prayers for healing and to be pain-free as he goes about continuing work on the electric/generator hook up in Haiti.
